Default Suggestions on Digital Camcorders?

I am looking at digital camcorders in advance of the Freshwater tour next weekend.

I am pretty sure that Mini-DV is the format I will choose, but I am not 100% sold.

I am 100% sold on Sony.

I have looked around and tried to do some research, but I am not finding much. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'd go with the DCR VX-2000 if you must buy Sony. It's about the only decent prosumer camera they make (although the VX-100 is not half bad if you can find one for a decent price).

I'd suggest looking at the Canon XL-1S, or the new Panasonic DVX 100A. Both cameras are about a grand more, but offer features worth the money.

Cheers -

A grand, MORE. I wasn't looking to spend even 1 grand.
