Default Suggestions on some computer speakers.

I have the Bose Lifestyle 15 Home theatre system but for some reason it decided to stop working with my Audigy X gamer. I only can get one speaker to work.

Now I want to get some real computer speakers. A set that is affordable, that look nice, and also a system that sounds decent. I was looking at the Benwin flat panel speakers. They are only 40 dollars and they look awesome.

Any other cheap suggestions? Budget around 100 dollars but that's still kinda pushing it. Thanks.

I just got the Bose Lifestyles 25 series recently and I've noticed that when running the input from my computer the right side is a lot quieter than the others. It's strange that it only happens from the PC not on movies, playstation, or CDs. I have even tried changing out the cables as well as using a different input channel on the reciever. I'd be interested to know if your setup is similar to mine. I'm also getting a little bit of a crackle through the speakers from the computer as well.

In the past, I have had similar problems with different computers and rebuilding the OS fixed it. That's my next step. I'm replacing the PC anyway so I'll post the results if I find anything out.

BTW - ANY input from ANYONE on this topic is greatly appreciated!!!!

I just have auxiliary cables going from the receiver and i use these splitter like adapters that take RCA and converts it so it can plug into the back of my sound card. So i have a red side plug and a white side plug that plugs into my SC. Heres the thing : when i plug in red or white into ONE of the sound out slots, either my left rear or my right rear speaker works. Now, I take that plug out and i plug the other one in, whether it be red or white, and i plug it into the second sound out slot. THis time, depending on which speaker worked the first time, the opposite rear speaker will only work. i.e. First time the left rear worked, second time the right rear works and the left rear doesn't work any more. NOW, if i plug in BOTH plugs into BOTH sound out slots in the back of my soundcard, the rear speakers stop functioning, i get a hiss from these speakers, and all sound switches over to the center channel. Now only my CENTER speakers works. WHAT IS GOING ON!?!? Someone want to help? I spent $1200 on this system and I can't get it to work.

Thanks.

You sound card has outputs for the right and left channel? Mine only has the single headphone jack that I split into the RCA's. Mine isn't working like yours however. I get audio from all speakers just some quieter than others. I'm still think it's related to the PC. How is this signal different from any other device, such as a CD player? Nothing will distingush between front and back speakers unless designed to do so like 5.1 surround. You could also be looking at the possibility of a problem with your Bose unit. Maybe it's just a coincidense that we have a similar problem.

Well, I got my figured out last night. It was indeed a software problem for me. The balance was already set to center on Winamp, but I slid the balance bar from left then to right then back to center and now I have equal sound out of my speakers. Very strange that it was already set on center and it wasn't quite right. Guess I better check to see if there are any Winamp updates...

mrkim019,

Did you have this computer lined in to a different reciever before? Did you have any problems? If not, then I would suggest call Bose tech support. That way you have proven it's not your PC or sound card.

Ok. I solved the problem. I bought new speakers.

Here's the thing though...again

I bought Creative Inspiron 5.1's. (The one w/out the external drive) They are pretty nice and work well with my soundcard since they are both Creative. WHen i play the Creative demo, all five speakers work fine. WHen i play my songs that i have stored on my hard drive through winamp, i only can get my front/rear speakers to work (all four this time ). My center refuses to work. I have my front and rears plugged into sound out 1 and sound out 2 and I have my center speaker plugged into sound out 3/digital out. Is there something i should do w/ my settings? I unmuted most of what I could unmute because i experienced problems by not unmuting some settings w/ my previous sound blaster platinum soundcard. But nothing i do wil lmake the center channel work. Any suggestoins? Any creative studs out there?

Thanks.
