Default Sure way to get out of speeding tickets???

I've been to a few car shows and almost every super exotic sports a license plate holder which reads "CHP 11-99 Foundation"

Then tonight before coming back home, I see this Carrera 4 with that very same plate holder and happened to bump into the driver. I asked him what's this 11-99 Foundation? He explained it's a foundation set up for CHPatrolmen to help out their families. Membership is $1000, and then there are other fees. I checked out the website and sure enough those are the fees. Anyway the dude went on to explain how he was driving near 110mph when he was stopped. The CHP asked for his license and asked whether he had his 'membership card' the CHP officer then told him to slow it down... So now I'm thinking, instead of buying a $1000 exhaust, why not be a member in this exclusive club???

An exhaust will give you something , that plate might get your speeding overlooked, it's a $1,000 gamble. Besides, I'd rather the state have my money than the PD (who knows where the money really goes?).

Shoot... If I knew that Maryland had a back-scratching "program" like this, I'd be the first in line to pay a grand...

Let's do the math... Getting pulled over in MD at 90 mph gets you at least a 3 point ticket... with $255 fines.... count on taking a lawyer with you to court... add $400.... and consider any hike in insurance if found guilty.... anywhere from $200 - $400... a year.... for at least 3 years... $1000 sounds like a good "gamble."

and where and how are we supposed to know "where the cops are ?" Give me something that I can use to get out of my 4-5 stops a year...

Why not save $600 and buy a V1 instead. It tells you where the cops are.

Because a V1 does not ALWAYS tell you where the cops are either. Many speeding tickets are still given by cops who pace your car, sometimes in traffic, sometimes b/c you passed him while he was on an on ramp or side road.

I DO recommend getting a V1/ or any detector for that matter, as everybit helps, but nothing is for sure.

The 11-99 foundation membership may not guarantee NOT getting a ticket, but if I were a cop, I sure as hell would be more likely to be a bit nicer to someone who contributes to such a cause.

Only sure fire way to avoid speeding tickets is not to speed, biut outsde of that...there is no sure fire way.

Has to be the most stuipid comment I have seen on this board.

You don't have to spend a $1000. Many people will donate $50 to their local cop shop - often they will get a sticker in return. It is a pretty standard technique - I have no idea how effective it is though.

A lot of my old customers were 11-99 member but I was told it was a $10,000 a year annual fee. All I know is that those guys got out of a lot of tickets. If you are being a dumb ass driving 100 MPH on the 405 at 3:00pm on a Friday afternoon they will ticket you. But if you are going to Palm Springs at Midnight and get caught, I am sure they will look the other way. My friend is a Police Officer in my city and gave me his card, I haven't used it yet, but others have and it works.
