Default Swimming pool design

So, I'm having a landscape designer help me with the layout of my back yard, but since I told her that I want to leave room for a pool, I now need to determine where the pool will be located and how it will be laid out (shape, dimensions, etc) so she can continue the design. I'd like something that's about 15x30', something that is hospitable to games like water volleyball, but still good for just lounging or whatever. It'd be nice to have a hot tub, too.

Here's a survey of my plot. It's about 50' from the back of the house to the back fence. The back yard is 72' wide (at the narrowest point). City ordinance requires that I leave 5' between the pool to the property line and/or house. (The back yard is on the south side/bottom of this pic... sorry for the lo-res).

Anybody have any ideas for a pool layout that would fit my needs? Where would you place the pool in this yard to maximize utility of the yard (I'd like to have a gazebo or something, too) I eventually plan to cover the patio that's back there, with something like this:

Thoughts? Ideas? Pics of example pools?

If you put it too close to that balcony you WILL get some teenagers and drunk fools who jump off it into the pool... or worse yet, miss. And the hole in your wallet will make that hole in your yard look like a puddle.

Put it in the far corner away from your deck.
