Default Task management software help

I am looking for software in which tasks can be assigned to specific users and allowing that user to log his/her time towards that task with ease. Currently I am using Outlook to assign tasks to the users but it does not have an easy way of keeping track of time spent towards that task on a daily basis, nor does it have any type of ad hoc reporting features. I do like it because it allows me to attach emails to the task. If any of you have a suggestion for a good Task/Time Management system please submit your ideas. The software needs to have the ability for a manager to monitor all the tasks assigned to a group of users and run reports against those tasks. Also, it would be great if it could interact with Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Project but not necessary.

Thanks!

It sounds like you are looking for something that is a cross between Progect and Outlook. I am using Act 2000 as my contact manager, it's not quite the same, but it does allow some of the things you are looking for.

Time Wizard is what we use here, but I'm not sure if you're looking to go for all that cost...

Checkout Chonilist. It is a calendar and a project manager. It is multiuser and pretty easy to use.

www.chronilist.com

Also, the author/programmer is just a phone call away. I have used this in my office for the past couple of years. Only complaint is that you cannot check the calendar on the internet - you would have to use TightVnc to check it out from on the road (if you have tightVNC server running on your office computer). BTW - TightVNC is a free program and it is pretty good at remote control of your computer from anywhere.

That's my 2 cents.

Mike
