Are there any golfers up in here?

Now you guys have me thinking... I also have a little trouble staying on the fairway with my Greatest Big Bertha (Boy is that club head huge! but I have to add, if I do hit it on the sweetspot, it does go!
But that doesn't happen all the time!
). And I do think Nick that it is the 9k redline of the clubface!
I think I may have to demo a Ping and a Persimmon. It would definitly make my Ping irons happier if the Ping driver was there though!
Fellas, that Greatest Big Bertha is huuuuuge. I get dizzy looking down at it (my former law partner makes me take a swing with his because he likes it when I look down and sway from disorientation.) Just looks all wrong next to a little ball. Of course, though a purist and true to the cause of blades and persimmons, the golf deities have had their fun with me. I used to play to about a 14, then I went to Kapalua, heart filled with joy as I approached the first tee. Shanked 140 shots in a row. Had to be taken to the 19th hole by friends - a golf nervous breakdown - filled with dread every time I took a club in hand. I'm recovering now, working on getting the ball back up in the air. I hate golf. Can't wait to get out again and see if I'm cured.

Now that is a true golfer!
Hope you are cured! But that is some story though! Beautiful course that I hope to play someday, but unfortunately it got the best of you, and most likely will do the same to me as well!
Keep swinging!

No, GS2K, have to disagree. The course did not get the better of me unless it was built on some kind of burial ground. Feels more like a curse of some kind actually.

Well, still hope you are cured!
2x6spds,
How did you shank 140 shots in a row? You're exagerating right? I can't imagine shooting a score that high. I might strugle with my driver at times, but I'm sure I can hit a decent PW. Btw, I'm a high handicap player.
stbrnd,
You could put your clubs in the passenger seat, and just meet the fellas at the course. Keep on playing man. I like big subs too.

Hello S2Kblk
Unfortunately, I don't think I'm exaggerating. As to how I accomplished this horror, I don't know. For one thing, I think I was bringing the club inside too far, but I'm sure there were several other and fundamental defects in my swing. I always drew the ball. Sometimes a fairly strong hook. The hooking was pretty extreme with my irons. This was 1994, and my swing has never been right since. I had a brief period where I laid my irons wide open at address. This brief golden period resulted in the longest highest irons I've ever hit (PW 135-140 yds, 9 150 yds, ... 5 195-200 yds.) but then I couldn't hit my woods at all. When I thought I'd come up with something weirdly effective, and got comfortable with the wide open thing, I started doing exactly what you'd expect from such a set up and it wasn't pretty either. Anyway, I now get out a few times a year and am hoping that someday I'll forget the weird sht and just hit it right again.
The horror.

That is my problem now. I hit my short Irons a ton but I can 'tseem to hit my woods for the life of me. I used to have a bad slice and now my woods all hang low and hook. But I can nail the beejeezus out of my irons. PW about 155 yards. Gotta quit working so I can play more golf.
BTW, I shot a 130 at Cypress once and just about quit playing myself. All better now though. Usually shoot around high 90's.
