Default Thinking about a '95 Integra GSR as a daily driver... opinions???

I'm selling my current daily driver to my dad, so I'm in the market for a new beater. I test drove a '95 Integra GSR (2 door) last night and really liked it. It was in great condition (drove great), but it has obviously not been babied (the owner talked about some street race encounters and drag strip runs). The owner used to work for a Honda dealer as a technician, and it appears that the car has been well maintained. It has a cold air intake, a header, numerous suspension mods, and a new set of wheels and tires. The clutch and timing belt have been replaced. My only hang up is the miles -- 205,000 (sounds like a lot of highway miles)! To me (or anyone for that matter!) that's a ton of miles. I can probably get the car for ~$6800. What do you think???

I'm also looking at '90 - '94 4Runners...

Too much. 205K miles is nearly 330K kilometers - here in Canada, you'd be lucky to get $1500 for it (perhaps it's different down there). The mileage is just too high to get that much money for it.

As a comparison, I could get a '97 Civic with 60K miles on it for that price (here). I could probably get a '98 Protege with 60K miles for that (if not less). I think that, despite it being a nice car with good mods and supposed proper maintenance, you'd be better off with something else with lower mileage.

My $0.02.

I agree. Way too much money for that many miles. Good car though. You could build a hybrid civic for less money then that. That's what I have for a daily driver.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. It's a good car, but the miles are just too much! I'm still looking for a GSR though, I want the hatch to be able to carry larger things if needed. Wish me luck!

GS-R's are GREAT cars, but PLEASE take into consideration, they are the most popular Japenese 2 door's that are stolen. My brothers GS-R was stolen from our driveway less then a week ago and still hasn't turned up. The engine is an extremely popular one to do swaps so BE CAREFUL!!!!

'95 GSR with 200K miles for $6800 is too expensive, it is wroth at most $4000.

I sold my '94 GSR with 120K miles for $5800 last year.

Well, I drove two more GSR's today -- a coupe and a sedan. The sedan was first. It was dark green with tan leather, one owner (late 60's - early '70's), and 130K miles. The body was somewhat rough (dings, scratches, had been backed into, etc.) and the tan leather was pretty nasty and faded. It drove alright, but nothing special.

The second was a '96 coupe. The owner was in his early 20's. This one was in even worse shape. After three break in attempts the window molding was hurting, all of the badges were gone, and the front bumper didn't line up at all. The interior wasn't much better (maybe even worse). The owner had just put on a set of (ugly IMO) big wheels, a CAI, and an exhaust. Suprisingly it drove pretty good. $7500 for this one (105K miles)...

Oh well, the search continues. Any one know of a GSR for sale? I'm willing to travel (within reason)!

Too much $$ for a 200,000 mile car.

My '94 Integra LS has 229,000 miles and is still running strong!
