Thinking of getting a tattoo
I hope your faith isn't in the tattoo.
To each their own but I'd definitely wait before you get it, ESPECIALLY if it is related to a personal belief/faith. These days, it seems like nobody sticks to something for long so I'd definitely give it some time.

My wife has several tattoos, so I'm obviously not totally against them. But I can't imagine the image so strong that I want to wear it on my skin forever. Over the years my attitudes have changed on many things. So has the art on my walls. Harder to change a tattoo. Not to mention that some old faded tats look like crap.
I have one, I knew I wanted it and knew it would be shoulder to shoulder on my upper back. I took over a year to draw it and made sure it was what I wanted. I ended up doing my Aquarius birth symbol with some water accents to extend it from shoulder blade to shoulder blade. All in all I am extremly happy I got it!! I just recently got some compliments while in Florida about how level headed and clean it looks.
I have four pieces done. I get all of them for very specific reasons that I believe will still mean something to me when I'm older. I don't get anything because it "looks cool", nor because of anything going on currently in my life (girls, ect.
).
I think any tattoo debate now has to include the fact that removal has come SO far in the last decade, and will certainly become a normal practice by the time my generation reaches retirement.
That being said, if your tattoo is tasteful, not in an extremely obvious place, and meaningful to you.... just get it done.

dont get one, to have one. you know?
i have been designing one for awhile. i lost a very close friend in 04'. he was my like my brother and even to this day even typing about him chokes me up.
i am going to get someting to his honor as i WILL never forget him and want to be reminded of all the great times we had everytime i look at it.
sorry for the personal rant, but i think that if you get a tattoo is should be something that is really intertwined with your personal life. your a pretty level headed guy(from what i read in your posts) im sure youll find whats right for you.

I've never been a spiritual person as far as designating a specific religion. Throughout the last couple years, where my life has flipped upside down in many ways, I've recently figured out a belief system unique to me, based off the religion of my parents and ancestors. It's a basis that I can live by forever I think, and is a path I've chosen to live by for the rest of my life. I'm not sure the Tattoo is necessary, but using my body as representation of my belief is appealing for some reason. Thanks again
