I've had Direct TV for about 10 yrs now, though rain/snow fade happens maybe twice a year, and only for short periods, I've never had problems with the wind. Sounds like the dish isn't tuned correctly or is loose.

Every time there's just a bit of thunder, we loose signal...we're on cable so what's the difference. If the power goes out at the cable's office here we have no tv until their power is restored, eventhough we never lost power, and sometimes that's been days.

FUnny I was just going to post a thread about DirecTV yesterday but ran out of steam.

The title of my thread was going to be "DIRECTV CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!"

And the body of the thread was going to be something like "DIRECTV CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ASS!!!!!"

Directv provides a far superior picture and sound when compared to my local cable company, most of their channels are anolog except for a few digital even with the HD package. Its not even close. But I want out of Directv anyway. Why? I pay the giant fees every month for basically one thing, local sports.

The f-ing jackasses at directv have this little habit of blacking out games that are nto supposed to be blacked out for local coverage. One year when the MN Wild were in the conference finals, they blacked out the game. It was a sold out away game and they blacked it out locally. Pissed off about a million people in the state and they brought it back on in the third period after their call center went nuts. It has happened about four times during big games, and people around town with cable get to see the games, but Directv claims it is not their screw up and blame ESPN or whomever. Their response to complaints, "tough luck".

Now I have the same problem as you, the first dish at my old house was aligned perfectly by someone who did a great job and I would only lose signal during storms of biblical proportion. The new house has one put on by some guy who did a piss poor job and I lose signal when a really dark cloud goes overhead. Tell directv that the installer did a bad job and you want it fixed, they say $70 service call. I say "EFF YOU Directv, I'll pay my $70 a month to somebody else if you wanna be pricks.

WHew, feels good to get that rant off my chest.

That's why I went with Dish Tv. They have the best HD package (they purchased VOOM and got all of their channels), customer service is OK as long as you get someone in the US and the pricing is very competitive.

RaveHD is a kick ass channel. All concerts in HD, just saw the Cure Trilogy yesterday
