Unless you aren't a candidate for Lasik, I can't see why you would opt for PRK, its a longer healing time, takes longer for your vision to stabalize, and is basically old tech. It is still used though if you have thin corneas or large pupils.
because the corneal flap is at risk for dislodge during combat situation. PRK has no flap.

Thanks for the comments. Pretty much hit the nail on the head as far as why the military is going with PRK.

Yeah it sucks it's a longer recovery but it's free and I get paid leave for recovery time so I can't beat that with a stick..

I'm getting nervous though..

What's the worst that could go wrong.... I don't think going blind is really a factor but partial blindness I've heard of..

Depending on your age you may want to look into Crystalens.

True this is the latest tech. Added benefit no cataracts to worry about.

Had this done last year. It is amazing not only to see 20/20 but to see colors as being very bright. You don't realize how your vision changes over time.

Had mine doe 5 years ago. I am better than 20/15 now.

I believe that all the machines are good. I think it is up to the Doctor and ypur own ability not to flinch when the laser is doing its majic.

BTW I had zero problems, no halos, light sensitivity, or pain.

i don't even have to get 20/15.. people say 20/10 or 20/15 and i'm sure it's very nice to have that kinda vision.. but i think 20/20 is good enough already.. i don't have to see that far clearly for daily living i think.. (i can't think of an incident where i wanted beyond 20/20)
i'm in the bay area, CA.
just wondering how many of you guys have gone with intralase?
i'm thinking of having that procedure..
well.. despite a big price tag of $5000, i'm sure it's worth it once the results are great.. =)
