Default For those of you who lift..

I've been lifting regularly for 3-4 years now, and I'm pretty happy with where I am, but I try to keep my fat down, so I think I've hindered myself a little by not eating enough sometimes. I've taken protein shakes off and on, but never consistently. Have any of you experienced significant muscle size gains after starting to take anything (besides steroids..)? My chest is the place where I feel like I could be doing better. Any recommendations of products would be appreciated!

I think your thinking in the short term, in the sense that you want to lose fat and gain muscles at the same time. Its possible, but inefficient. If you want to get big, you have to eat big, so gaining fat is a "side effect".

To do cardio and to limit your calories means your not gonna gain any muscle but you will lose fat (maybe a little muscle as well).

So basically, during winter you eat like a horse and during summer you try to lose the fat. You don't need any supplements as long as you're eating enough.

Yeah, I know that is the conventional wisdom, but I don't really want to put on fat at any point during the year. Guess I'm vain
I'm not trying to much bigger, just a little. And I'm not trying to hurry up to do it, so I was thinking if I just added some protein to my diet, that would probably be a way to acheive this, though maybe slowly. Like I said, I'm pretty happy with the way I am now, just looking for a little change.

I used creatine and about 1/3 of a bottle of andro when it first came out as well as protien mixes. I noticed little to no effect, saw too many downsides and quit.

The couple of kinesiology majors I know say your body will pee out whatever you take in in those protien powder shake mixes. I saw lots of cost at GNC, possible side effects and little or no benefit. The over the counter stuff that is steroid-like (andro for one) are now considered steroids by some professional sports and can pose a danger. Giambi's use of steroids and his early onset tumors I do not think are any coincidence at all.

If you want to put on muscle and get trimmer, my advice is workout harder and more effectively. Personal trainers can give you some help and if one puts you one the right track, youre good to go. It amazes me the number of people I see at my health club that work out just plain wrong. Bad form, half reps that don't work any muscle, I am glad they make the effort to get exercise, but to some extent they are wasting there time and effort.

If you choose to use a miracle powder, use in moderation.

Yup. Its all about proper form...I have been doing exercises all wrong, until a personal trainer walked over, adjusted a couple simple postures and bam! It started hurting soooo good.

It's all about diet. Gear and supplements aren't gonna do anything if you dont eat right. You gotta know what to eat, when to eat it, and why you're eating it.

Eating everything in sight is gonna make u into a blob. But yeah like someone said, bulk in winter, shed in late spring/summer. I do it every year and I manipulate my diet so well I can gain and lose basically whenever I want.

I suppose I'll just up the poultry in my diet. That's the easiest improvement I can make. It will probably do all I need to get where I want to be.

creatine and the like is fine IF YOU ARE HEALTHY

i took creatine many years and I don't think it helped much, really.

unfortunately, at the time I was taking creatine my kidneys were failing. as a result, my body had creatanine readings (the waste of creatine, produced naturally by your body) was 40x acceptable ratings.

I go to the gym and work out Mon Wed and Fri, just got back actually. I take a multi vitamin and two aspirin(thins blood good for heart, pumps more blood into muscle) everyday.

Cardio 20-30 mins Weights 2 or 2 1/2 hours. I have seen many changes in my body and have been going for approx 8 weeks.

Obviously you all have been going for way long than me, but they people that I see regularly up there are all body builders, I look like a tooth pick compared to them, and Im a pretty big guy. So they have helped me with form, and kept me motivated, as well as helping me with certian excercises that increase muscle mass, and I have seen a big difference in the past few weeks.

I do 1 routine that is for biceps and it is what Arnold Swartal;hfer(yea I can't spell that) did when he was younger and body building.

Anyone know a good way to up your bench. Im ashamed of my max. I need to increase it substantially.

anyway sorry for the book, but i the gym has really impacted my life.

I take some weight gainer and Trebistan. If you want to get chest, do a lot of push ups... easiest and fastest way IMO
