Ticket assassin
I went to the court today, wanted to plead Not-guilty with written Not guilty plea, requesting a trial by written declaration. however, since i got too much overspeeds, 130 in 65, that judge was not allowed me to do trial by declaration. By doing paper work without appearing at the court at all would give me a lot more chances to win according to ticketassassin.com. more than that, Im moving down to Diego in next few days, that way, it makes me a bit harder to come up to the Bay again for this crap while taking a heck of classes. So i need to ask some questions about this matter.
1.
Total bail $395 was charged to me. but i personlly think that its kinda cheap b/cuz i ran 130mph which was twice of the limit. (Swear to God not to run any faster than 80)
so at a trial, will fines be approximately the same as total bail i got today no matter how badly i lose agasint the cops? or could it be flexible depending on any kinda situations?
2.
Is there any way that i can win by doing some other legal processings without appearing at the court while I am in San Diego? ( I know the best thing i can expect is the cop won't be there at a trial date but let's face it another way) cops might appear at a trial cuz they get paid about 200-300 bux for their overtime charge. sooo obvious that they will be there. once i and cop face the case, only 1-2 % possibilities of winning is allowed for me no matter how well i represent myself.(IMO)
So if anyone has even experienced like mine and got any suggestions, I would be very happy to share the infos with y'all.
any advice will be appeciated.
Im too serious to do any sh!eYs

in CA you can have your license revoked on the spot by the cops for doing over 100mph.
1. fines are in addition to bail, and usually quite greater
2. Laywers can appear in court for you for misdemeanors and infractions, and they're generally more successful at getting fines reduced. That said, getting caught doing twice the limit is pretty stupid.
You can ask for a continuance for discovery if you haven't already gotten one. That also revokes your right to a speedy trial.
If it's a misdemeanor you can request a jury trial. You can talk to the prosecutor about cutting a deal, and if they say no you can say "well I think I'm going to request a jury trial on this one." They hate it, the cop hates it cuz then there are 12 ppl that need to be fully convinced instead of just the judge. Much more likely to get a deal from the prosecutor by bringing it up.
just some thoughts from a non-lawyer who's spent plenty of times defending himself in court

Every state is different, in my lil' ole' state we just sweet-talk the DA, pay double the fine, and it's dropped to a non-moving violation...no points. Talk to the DA first, he'll tell you how it works, he's there to make deals, nobody cares about you, IT'S ALL ABOUT YOUR MONEY!
Never forget that.

In Virginia, there are no deals - no DAs to talk too, no jury trials. You pay the ticket upfront which says you are guilty, or you can go to court where you have practically no chance of winning and are found guilty too.
in VA (used to live there) if it's over 20 or more over the limit, or over 90mph you can be charged with reckless, which would make it a criminal charge not just a code infraction.
I live in CA now.
That's federal by the way...you have the right to a trial by jury for criminal charges. An infraction is not a criminal charge, so no chance for a jury trial.
And luft46, there ARE DAs to talk to if you go to court, and you can ALWAYS contest your tickets in court. I have only 3 convictions out of 9 tickets in VA, and 3 out of 5 in CA.
