Ticket for taking a corner too fast ?
As you owners know, one of the most fun things to do in the S2000 is take a corner at twice the suggested speed limit, while maintaining positive control of the car. I love the fact the the speed limit can be 45MPH, and when I come up on a 90 degree turn I do not have to slow down...just take the turn and woohoo. I always try to stay in the same lane also, so I'm not bashing into others.
I have been wondering for a couple of months now if it is possible to get a ticket while doing this. My thoughts about explaining the situation to a judge (thinking ahead) go kind of like this:
Judge: what are you doing taking a corner at 45MPH you imbecile?
Me: Your honor (suck up), let me explain to you what my car is capable of...blah...blah...blah...I would never consider taking the corner going that fast in my wife's Odyssey, but I know the capabilities of this car and it was perfectly safe. I maintained control of the car, and stayed in the inside lane the entire time.
Judge: OK..I'm convinced...officer, you're a dumbass
I'm under the impression that unless I lose control of the car I'm OK.
What do you all think?

Speeds for corners are recommended speeds if I remember correctly so they couldn't get you for breaking a speed limit. However, I think they could get you for reckless driving or something similar.
Yellow signs are sugested speed. So if the Speed Limit is 55 but the corner had a yellow sign that said 25 and you take a corner at 55 they can't write you for speeding. Reckless driving tho is possible. But if you were going less than or at 55, you should be able to argue it.
This is in CA only. I am not sure about other states.

When I lived in Maryland, I got a ticket on my motorcycle for "Failure to reduce speed on a narrow and winding highway". Keep in mind, I was on campus at UMD - not exactly a highway, and going less than 25 MPH. I thought this would be an easy ticket to get out of, so I went to court. I guess I wasn't convincing enough, because I still got the ticket, but got the fine reduced.

If it is like the UK you could get ticketed for dangerous driving, or reckless driving regardless of whether you were within the speed limit. If it was considered dangerous to take a corner at that speed.
Just because the car can "handle it" doesn't make it safe. What happends if someone walks out into the road just round the corner, or if there is something in the road that you can't see just round that corner?? You certainly wouldn't want to be hitting the brakes hard whilst cornering at 45mph!!!!
