No, you gotta use your regular brake to activate the tail lights, so that they KNOW you used your brake. THEN, you lift your hands off the wheel, look both ways, place hands back on the wheel at 10 and 2 (or 9 and 3, if you please) and then roll across the intersection safely and sedately.
