Default Tips on Planning a trip to Las Vegas

Can anyone give me tips or ideas on where to stay (at a reasonable rate) and ideas on what to do in Las Vegas. I am planning a trip to Vegas, possibly in the month of September, for a Bachelor Party... yeah, I know... just go to the strip clubs . But o.k. where? I have never been to Vegas, and I don't have any idea of where is a good location to stay. I would like to party hard, and stay in a sort of reasonably price hotel (no roach motel and to give you an idea

We stayed at Tropicana. At first I thought it was a cheap hotel, but once you get there, it's pretty nice. The rooms are okay, it's no Venician or Bellagio. It's right near NY/NY, MGM, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, and Excaliber, so you can walk to those casinos. It also has a casino/bar and singing area. There's also a decent pool, so sometimes you see chicks walking around the casino/hotel in their swimsuits. I think the rate was around $60/night. Not sure.

Later...

If you have a car, you can stay in downtown instead of on the strip. The hotles there are usually a lot cheaper than the ones on the strip.

The cheaper strip hotels are usually the older ones or the ones that are pretty far away from the center of the strip. Sometimes, you can get some great deals from Mirage and Treasure Island depending on when you go.

PM or e-mail me, and I can give you more details.

Maxim and Imperial Palace ususally have lower rates than the bigger casino. Treasure Island too I would recommend if you want something a bit more upscale. As to what to do for the bachelor party, try Cheetahs or Olympic Gardens. For a small fee, they'll put the lucky groom on stage and have 3-4 dancers dance for him. If you are willing to shell out $5-1K, you can have a private show in the comfort of your hotel room with 2 girls.

I think the best way to stay in Vegas or anywhere else it to rent somebodys condo / time share. Last year the GF and I stayed at the Jockey club (right next to NY NY) on the strip. The place was brand new, it had two bedrooms, two full baths, two TV, pool, maid service, workout room, and a full kitchen with dishes, pots, pans ect. for $700 for seven days. It was great to have a fridge and a real coffee machine. Two Thumbs Up.

I don't know the sites, but there are places on the web where people advertise their vacation property for rental.

Check it out

Check out LVRS.com for hotel and package deals to Vegas. I go to Vegas at least once every other month. If you do go often, and gamble a lot, I'd suggest you get a players card. Once you sign up for one of these, they'll send you hotel promos all the time with good room rates. If you're going during the week, you can get rooms for under $100 no prob. The weekends are much harder, but not impossible, if you want rooms on the strip. There's always some kind of big event going on (convention, fight, etc.) so the casinos tend to raise the room rates and the table fees. Good "gentlemen's clubs" to check out are: Crazy Horse II, Olympic Gardens, and I heard the Sphearmint Rhino is pretty good too. I'll be headed there next weekend actually, so I'll be sure to leave you some money and not take ALL of it from the casinos!
