The Discovery channel is doing an American Version. Same format, but filmed out in the Mojave. Massive chance that they will screw it up. The few epsisodes shown of the British version were just a test to see if us Yanks would watch it. Personally, I'd rather watch the Brit version, even with Jeremy Clarkson's stupid-fat-lazy-American jokes. He's kind enough to insult everyone, though I think the French catch it the heaviest.

If you're desperate for it: www.finalgear.com posts links to torrents of each episode after they air in the UK.

I agree 100%. British Top Gear Rocks, Jeremy James and Richard are Awesome.
I hate when Americans try to copy the British, its never half as good.

Aye, I agree wholeheartedly. There's a biting witticism the Brits have that just can't be captured with an American host.

Although I'm not sure this is S2000 related directly.

I discovered, to my delight, that BBC Canada shows Top Gear on the weekends (and probably at other times). Currently showing reruns as I believe the show is off-season in the UK at the moment.

A retooling for the US would have to carefully capture the scripted interactions and drama they put on the show. Top Gear isn't necessarily a great review show but it is good car-related entertainment.

True, the reviews are lacking in nearly every objective area, but that seems to be the appeal of the show. It's exactly what you and two friends would say and do if you were sitting around a garage talking about cars (and had a massive budget[and knew people who could get cars to test{and were cool}]). There are some fantasically pointless segments like Grannies doing donuts, Britains fastest religion and Can you outrun a traffic camera (140+) that are the sort of musings you'd have while waiting for the oil to drain from your wife's car. Regular bits like the Cool Wall is perfect for it's utter lack of objectivity, and Star in a reasonably priced car has featured everyone from Damon Hill to some British transportation minister. Who hasn't ever wondered if The Rock is a better driver than Danny DeVito in a Chevy Impala? The absolute best was Jeremy Clarkson referrring to the French as "cheese eating surrender monkeys" for giving him a speeding ticket (he was racing a train from London to Monte Carlo). I hope, I hope I hope that the US crew will do the format justice. Whether it does or not, I'll keep downloading the UK show after every newly aired episode.

Talking about Top Gear is S2000 related.
For me anyway.

The S2000 came up FIRST in the JD Power / BBC consumer satisfaction survey.
Not just in 2004 but also in 2005.
Those results (in 2004) got me to check out the used car section at the Honda site, and go for a test drive in a S2000.

The rest is history.

I love this show so much that I keep checking for new ones daily on Google video.

Go to Google.com, then go to google video, then type in top gear, then you will see list of available videos.

You will love them.

I watched EVERY episode that was on the Discovery Channel. I was PISSED when they cut it! My fav was the grandmothers doing donuts in S2000's, then the Ariel Atom with the guy's fat face being compressed! Looked like a bad sky-diving video of a REALLY fat guy (cheeks waving).

An American version? Great... is the Stig going to be Dale Earnhardt Jr? Is the test track going to be at the California Speedway? Is Tony Siragusa going to be the host?
