I figured the trip to Scotland would not really be day trip type of thing. We'd probably be spending a few days there. If flying is not much more expensive than taking the train I'll try to persuade my friends into it. We are trying to keep costs down so would not be surprised if we end up on the train.

Thanks for the train links. I guess I'll put Camden on the "maybe" list for Sunday untill I hear more about it

In London, is there a good part of town to be in for night life? It would be cool to be able to walk from one pub to another, hear a few local bands and sample some good beers.

Thanks again

If you want to go on the train cheaply you need to book in advance... Otherwise try easyjet.

Covent Garden has plenty of pubs, clubs and restaurants - it can be a bit pricey though. I don't really know London all that well so, beyond that, I'll have to leave it to those who know it better to offer some suggestions.

I was at college in Manchester and it made me laugh when they all thought they were Northerners even though it took me 3 hours driving south to get there.

The Punch and Judy in Covent Garden is the busiest pub I have ever been in .....

Best area for restaurants is Soho but some of them are *very* expensive. Pizza Express, on Dean, St has live Jazz on a Friday night. Ronnie Scotts is *the* place to go for Jazz but it can be hard to get tickets. Comedy club on Haymarket is worth a visit (but don't tell anyone where you are from ).

There are *lots* of good pubs but I can never remember the name of them. Avoid the strip clubs as a lot of these places will rip you off big time.

Leicester Square is quite central and all of the "West End" area is in easy walking/staggering distance - this is where the nightlife and clubs are. When you arrive get a
