"Tuners"
I was thinking about the term "Tuner."
Why do so many people with an import car call themselves "Tuners" or say thay are into "Import Tuning", when all they have done to their car is pay someone else to install their JDM coilovers and wheels?
To me, tuners are the guys sitting behind the wheel with their laptops modifying fuel and timing maps. Not someone who buys a bodykit and a wing...
Thoughts?

tuners are, in my book, the people that actually manipulate aem, crome, hondata etc etc
Tuners as a lifestyle should only apply to those who actually do the work on the cars themselves. I think it should also apply to all car makes and not just imports.
If you dont do the work yourself but totally dedicate yourself to researching and learning about the car that is being built with your money, I guess you can call yourself a tuner but whats the fun in doing that???

maybe the term has just evolved and/or been adopted to become a more ambiguous slang term. take the term "cool" for instance. although the term originally relates to description of temperature, somehow it is been adopted to become an ambiguous term describing something or anything that's not temperature related. i'm guessing the term "tuner" in our case has just evolved to become a more ambiguous term that incompasses anyone and everyone who modifies their vehicles in any way shape or form, whether they actually perform the modifications themselves or not.
