Default tv show idea

first, does anyone know how i can go and make a pitch to a studio/network?

what do you think about a tv show in the american idol format where regular, real, middle or lower class people audition to ultimately run for the office of US president in 08? there would be fun debates, etc and vote off elimination until the last one stands. an you imagine all those viewers voting during the actual election?

im so tired of rich white aristocrats who know nothing about real american life being our leaders.

That's a novel idea for a TV show but would require immense financial backing beyond the show alone. I can see it being good entertainment. It would be tricky having weekly debates that interest viewers though.

One word...FOX.

Print this thread as proof that you thought of the idea first. That way they can't just take your idea and run.

It wouldn't be a bad idea. But how would people be voted off? Would we have a panel of Politician's to vote them off? What would they do, stand infront of this said panel and give reasons why they want to be the President? Or would they have to do contests and stuff? How could we vote them off? I mean, pick whoever gives the best speech as to why they want to run for office? How will they ultimately make the bid to become the President? It takes A LOT of money to even be a contender. Not to mention, their credentials will come into play if this is serious. Everyone has skeleton's in their closet. What if the best nominee on the show is a convicted felon. You also have to be born in the US, and of a certain age bracket. So that could eliminate a lot of people off the bat. Do you think some immigrant will sue for not letting them on the show?

It sounds like a lot of questions will need to be sorted out in order to make it work really. And I know these "white aristocrats" you speak of may not be doing what is best for you, but I think they could do a better job then some average Joe. Just because someone works the 9-5 at a local conveinence store, and knows what living pay check to pay check feels like, doesn't mean they could even begin to comprehend what it takes to run the worlds most powerful nation. Even though as President of the country, you have somewhat limited powers, it still takes a lot. Not to mention, the world thinks we are a bunch of morons now. Imagine if we had someone from some section 8 housing district meeting with the world's leaders across seas. I personally don't want someone who barely made it out of community college alive representing my intrests as a citizen of this country. Especially if the only reason they got to be the President, was because they won some silly game show on national television.

Just my opinion anyway.

i think an average joe would run things equal to if not immensely better than an upper classman. who could possibly look bad compared to bush? what is so hard about being president that a simple person couldn't do?

the point being that the winner of the show would not need financial backing as the whole country would already know them. people would get voted off by viewers every week like idol. it would give the people a candidate instead of candidates being given to the people to decide on.

I see a flaw in that, after voting for their favorite "President Idol" on the show, the people will vote again FOR THAT PERSON. The other candidates wouldn't stand a chance if the show turns out to be popular.

The people shouldn't be allowed to vote for both elections or there would be a bias.
