[QUOTE=zeiss,Jan 14 2008, 04:47 AM] No, I want high quality health care to be available to everyone, whether they can afford it or not.

Clearly you've missed the analogies, and cannot follow a conversation.

Ha. You are 58, and preaching about something you have no solution for yourself old man. You want to put the burden of YOUR health care coverage on us--the working class who pays for it--and die without considering the ramifications of your actions. You'll be gone in less than 10 years, and won't feel the sting of increased taxes to pay for universal coverage--and the increased taxes that will need to keep Medicare and Social Security afloat. Those are systems you are going to sink by giving everyone universal coverage.

Do you know what the Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 is? You should, you were only in your early 20s then...

Let me ask you, was health care better before or after the passage of that Act? You know what that act was? A FEDERALLY MANDATED act that gave birth to HMOs--much less harmful than a FEDERALLY MANDATED universal health care plan. Why do you think things are so bad these days; why are you complaining now? I can assure you it is in part due to that act. Let me ask you or anyone here: do you like your HMO? Do you think HMOs are efficient? I can guarantee things will be much worse with a single-payer health care system.

You are completely irresponsible, and coming off quite senile with the analogies you've missed.

If you want to tell everyone to get on the universal health care wagon, I want to hear your proposal for a viable business model. Do that, and I will concede. Don't come on a damn car forum ranting without a solution. That is just called whining.

Give me a comprehensive proposal or shut up.
I find this post very inappropriate, peppered with remarks intended to be insulting or belittling.

Very unimpressive. You point was lost to me because of how you said what you said.

Hey, this guy started the attack and started belittling many ppl here including me. Maybe you missed his comments, which is understandable considering he still hasn't grasped the concept of the quote button.

Here is your single-payer system:

Guess who solved the problem?
I am so ashamed of our healthcare system in the US being able to help a Canadian get his brain tumor operated on in a matter of weeks instead of 8 months in Canada. That's ridiculous and we need to do something about it. Canada has the right idea. Put people off long enough and they die before you have to send a bunch of money doing surgery. What a great way to cut down on healthcare costs!

I agree that there's plenty wrong with the US system. I'm just not convinced that Canada's is the solution. It fixes some of the problems, but has plenty of problems of its own.

Alright I read back on some posts and maybe there were a couple of small jabs but I didn't think they were unprevoked. I'll take back 40% of what I said

I, for one, would love to see a 2-tiered healthcare system. Perhaps that's because I'm not in the lower income half over the population (Though I may be in my city, there's oil money in them thar hills). I think this is the general feeling among the wealthy, but it really doesn't help the majority of the population. I think federal/regional healthcare plans do, and that once you introduce a private tier you serious jeopardize the quality of the public one.

In an hour I'll be heading down to file my Alberta Healthcare Insurance Plan Coverage forms. Since I moved out here last may I've been without coverage. Perhaps skiing last weekend on the biggest mountains I've ever seen wasn't the best idea without it.
