I have had a drink with BJ and Charuto with couple of my friends that are close to him. And he does get a little punchy. Thats how alot (not all) Hilo boys are. He does not take training as hard as some. He was offered to go and train at Big Bear but he turned that down cause he just wants to train in Hawaii. But hope he comes back and takes the belt. He just needs to be more prepared for the fight to go the distance. Pride is the SH!T.

1. no, i dont think it was a matter of rich playing anderson silvas game. i think it was purely that anderson silva is the better fighter than rich.

2. the ufc is basically a redneck bush league of fighters, when u have chris leben being considered a high level fighter in that division, and then being absolutely clowned by the same anderson silva (in fact, in that fight, leben didnt even land one solid punch, not one against silva)

3. i might sound like im a pride nuthugger here, but the level of skill in the ufc pales compared to pride. the only fighter that can rate is chuck, and he was soundle beaten by rampage, who is no longer with pride.

4. as a general rule pride>ufc

5. oh, and rich will never beat anderson silva, althought the rumour was that he was sick before the fight.

6. but the fact is, rich beat all the challengers that the ufc put before him, but its like being cba basketball world champ, ur never truly the best.
1. And you would know .

2. Agreed.

3. Yes, and no. And Chuck is a joke.

4. Agreed.

5. You can't know that from seeing such a short fight, and what does being sick before a fight have to do with anything?

6. Right, Rich Franklin is a push-over, anyone can beat him, including you. You can return to your cage now monkey.

considering Chuck's outstanding win record-- and the quality of the fighters he has defeated-- I'd say your opinion is poorly founded.
It's not my opinion, it's a fact. Chuck has good hands, exceptional timing, and great takedown defense, which is why he is where he is. However, on the mat he's a sitting duck.

Play Chuck's game against Chuck and lose.
Play your own game against Chuck and win.

wow strong words, but its your opinion and it does matter cause thats why we post. But how do you say Chuck is a joke. I really hope you train or previously did so you comments are more creditable. I am with you and mostly anybody esle with Pride being on top as a MMA franchise. And I dont think anyone could just beat Rich, he is skilled and there is alot of stuff that could of happened to affect his performance.

You gotta have a pretty good game in order to beat Chuck. I agree that on the ground Chuck is not much of a competitor, but try taking him down first! He's got great sprawls and take down defense. On top of that, if you do take him down, he's strong enough and fast enough to get back up. Not to mention you have to get around his heavy hands! Look at the Liddell vs. Ortiz fight. Tito tried to play his own game and attempted to take him down numerous times but failed and loss the fight.

Rich Franklin never really fought a top notch competitor. Sure he beat Louiseau which I think is a great fighter and not much of a Tanner fan. Shamrock was waaaay past his prime in their fight.

Waiting to see the Fedor vs. Mark Coleman 2 fight coming up. I want to see how Fedor fights after being out for a while. Fedor beat Coleman in the first round the last time.

Fedor looks unstoppable. Shogun had an impressive submission win as well.

As for the comparisons b/n the UFC and Pride, I disagree about there being a big disparity in talent. Many of Pride's better fighters (Silva, Coleman, Belfort, Lawler, Hartnet, Randleman, etc.) have fought and lost to the best in the UFC (Ortiz, Liddell, Couture, etc.), so to say that only Liddell could "rate" in Pride is a fallacy.

True, Fedor is the sickest fighter in MMA today (and he's Pride's undeniable meal ticket). But I think Penn, Hughes, Liddell, Ortiz, Swick, Vera, Sanchez and a few other UFC notables could hang in Pride quite easily.

Some of these fighters are great, but not impressive to watch, which sucks because this is all sport-fighting, not real fighting, and since it's for entertainment it needs to be good to look at.

A perfect example is Fedor, everyone know's he's bad-ass, and he has some good moves, but he's no human-highlight-reel like Michael Jordan. I did like his arm-bar against Coleman tho', that was a true thing of beauty.

I just want to see Rickson Gracie break Matt Hughes in half.
