Understanding accents
A few of my professors had heavy accents.
I just sat in the first two rows, took notes as best as i could and then met up with them after class for clarification. When its one on one conversation everything was easier to understand.
I have a cousin who is horrible at English (he speaks Arabic, French, and Russian fluently)

Funny I see this thread 5 minutes after calling Cali. The poor guy on the phone was trying to get my name, mailing addy, etc and seemed like he was having a hard time understanding me. My southern accent is weak sauce compared to the guys I grew up with, but put me on the phone with Cali and I sound like I should be banging my sister...
