Unlocking cell phone
Hello guys
How do I go about unlocking a cell phone? I have looked through many forums speaking a language I don't understand. Anyone know what the best way to go about unlocking it would be?
Thanks!

It's something called a subsidy lock. A carrier can lock a phone to only work with their sim card.
To whom is it locked?
T-mobile's customer service will give you the code after 90 days of service with them. Cingular will never. Also, depending on the phone, you can get the code from an online store or maybe just a simple software re-flash will do. Give me some more info, we can definitely get this thing unlocked.

The phone?.?.?... I am going to use a cingular sim on a phone from another network (which is why I need to unlock it). Currently the phone will not pick up the sim.
My carrier: Cingular (bastards)
New Phone: KRZR K1
Network: SunCom
Ahh, a new KRZR, do you like it? You may have to go online to find a store that can send you the subsidy code. They can usually do this for like $25-$35 and can email you the code. You can also check ebay for unlock code auctions.
I had my V600 unlocked online, I downloaded a program, bought a credit from the company that made the program, plugged my phone into the computer, ran the program and the phone was unlocked. Worked great, I think it's called Phoenix something or another.

Go to any search engine and type in "cell phone unlock". A whole bunch of sites will pop up. Search around and look for the best price and look at the method they use to unlock. What country is SunCom in? Where did you buy your phone and what did it cost, can you still return it? I've seen it for sale online, unlocked for about $320, www.myworldphone.com.
You will also need to set up your Webaccess list in the phone to handle Cingular's settings for GPRS and MMS Messaging. This can be a real pain, as Cingular doesn't have an Over the Air configurator.
