Motorolas typically require a cable to unlock them yourselves unless you can get Cingular to unlock the phone (ie out of contract).

Some phones are very easy to unlock, like my Samsung All I can tell you for sure is DO NOT PAY - there are free ways to do it.

If its a Suncom-locked phone, maybe you know somebody who can unlock it if you give them the IDMEI (sp) code...

i the phone is like 2years old buy a new unlocked phone and transfur the sim card from the old to the new. remove personal data from the old and put it on craigslist or ebay.
howard forums deletes all unlocking threads - it upsets their sponsors.

Actually, somewhere in the WTB GPW bumper thread I posted a link to a site where I got some really good unlocking info. Try pages 700-850... it was around the beginning or Sept. 06

Most of the new Motorolas require equipment, a Test Point, to unlock. It is no longer as easy as re-flashing, editing a few seems, and being on your way. Those were the good ol' days.

For the record, my Samsung d807 required a 10 digit code to reset the factory specs and it was unlocked. Took all of 30 seconds to reset the phone!

Too bad you don't live in MD, I could probably do this for you. I have a Motorola E815 phone through Verizon. Verizon turns off all the cool features so I hacked it with the help of a few free programs and turned them on. Unlocking the phone usually just requires a USB cable that works with your phone and a few simple programs. The Krzr might be hard to hack right now since its so new there might not be a huge community of ppl who have altered it yet.

I have Verizon as a carrier. Can I just buy a unlocked phone off eBay and have them swap it out with my current phone? I am tired of waiting 2yrs to get a phone at a reasonable price, my other alternative is paying $500 bux for a phone normaly advertised for 99 dollars with a new plan.

Sorry to take this a little off topic.
