urgent windows xp help
ok, here is what happend, i turn on my computer( HP running winxp) and it boots up to the login screen, but my identity is not there to click on. there is nothing i can do to get past this screen, safemode wont work etc, so i try to reinstall xp and run the repair with the windows xp recovery console, this works to a point, it then asks me for my admin password. i only had 1 identity on the machine, so that would be my password, but it says that the password is invalid.. the next thing i try is to install a second OS, becuase i need the data in the "my documents" folder . i am able to install the new windows, and everything is going good, i can access just about everything on my c drive EXCEPT the "my documents" under the owner on my original windows. it says access denied. i am able to access the my documents under all users in the original os, but not the ones i need.
can anyone help with how i can get to my files.
thanks
edit. basically what has happend, that i assume, is that the info in the login/pass got corrupted some how.

I think all you have to do is take ownership of that folder, and then reset permissions on it. Taking ownership is in the advanced permissions thing somewhere...when I get a chance I'll look it up, but just dig through the dialogs, you'll see it.
