Default USPS problems?

hey guys

basically i've bought stuff from the classifieds and got it shipped via usps with tracking. From the states to australia.

seller gave me its tracking number and this is all i get from when i put it in to check its status...

Label/Receipt Number:
Class: Priority Mail International Parcels
Service(s): International Parcels
Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on March 16, 2010 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

now i dont really understand wot that means, but all i know is that the seller sent it off on the 16th march 2010?

i then request for track and confirm by email and i get this.

Current Track & Confirm e-mail information provided by the U.S. Postal Service.

Label Number:
Service Type: International Parcels
Shipment Activity Location Date & Time
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Electronic Shipping MIAMI FL 33166 03/16/10 5:11pm
Info Received

i've done that twice in a space of 2weeks, and still get the same location. so is the item still in miami, FL ?

is it always the case that usps takes MORE than a month to deliver internationally? should i be paranoid in that its not gona get here? what else can i do to check its status?

any help is much appreciated !!

I think we have no idea what its status is

But I'd suggest calling USPS to ask! 1-800-275-8777 is the toll-free, and it doesn't indicate the number is only for use in the USA or anything so hopefully it'll work for you.

Just call and ask, or send a message through their system http://faq.usps.com/eCustomer/iq/usps/requ...ard=inquiryType and request some exact info.

That's happened to me before - all USPS tracking would tell me is that they received the shipping info from the sender. For 3 days all it said was "info received", on the 4th day the package arrived at my door.

I don't know why they didn't update the tracking info, but my package arrived ok. But I'm in the US - I don't know if it's the same for overseas.

All I got from your post was that you wrote 1/2 page of text, but you felt compelled to shorthand the word "what" (wot).

Good luck getting it sorted out. It could mean that they just haven't updated the location in their tracking systems, or it could mean that the sender printed a shipping label, but never had the item picked up (or took it to a UPS office to ship).

It's not really a tracking number but a confirmation/verification number; it doesn't track every step of the way like how UPS and FedEx do.

Priority Mail International (PMI) does not offer real time tracking into Australia, AusPost don't even bother providing any updates even when it arrives. It will arrive when it arrives.

GXG > EMI > PMI only GXG and EMI offers tracking from a USPS service level perspective into Australia anyway.

If you call USPS they have detailed tracking usually. Just give the track number and should be able to tell you more than the USPS site
