Default vacation

i got about 55 days of vacation time that i have to spend before oct.
thinking of a cruise to hawaii, and the another one to rio, but that
still is going to take me till probably 15 days used.

also thinking of a road trip (as soon as i get a car and my foot heals) probably from MIA to San fransico. about 15 (20 if i stay with family along the way)

i need ideas basically. not absurd, but realistic ideas.

my budget is about 5k

thought about taking a cruise to europe with my gf. but i just met her and she
cant afford to go half of the trip plus to be honest its not gonna last.

i could not work every friday or monday from now till oct.

btw im 22.

If you are 22 and not going to stay with your girlfriend, I'd suggest Amsterdam and a eurorail pass and bum around Europe.

Galapagos.

If you like a little adventure, don't mind doing some travel by boat, and are ok with going by yourself to see some really cool stuff.

Try a search in the Photography section, a couple board members have been there.

But thats me, I have been to Hawaii a bunch of times and love it, but the wife is from there so we go about once or twice a year.

And I personally love the untouched coners left in this world and be able to see something few get to see. That appeals to me more than going to Europe. Their are a million places I want to go in Europe, but they will still be there all my life, the natural untouched places may not be the same.

If you go to Hawaii, a cruise is the least expensive but you will miss most of what the islands have to offer. If you decide to go to Hawaii, PM me and I can give you TONS of ideas of things to do, places to snorkel, things to see, hikes to take, beaches, etc. Lots of it is free.

Cruises are lame. Fly to wherever you want to start (or drive, if you're doing a road trip), don't waste time looking at the inside of a cruise ship.

If you want to go to Hawaii, fly there. You can easily spend 3 weeks hopping to the various islands and not run out of new things to see & do.

raj's suggestion is also a good one. There's so much to see & do in Europe, and everything is much closer and more accessible by rail or bus than here in the US. You can backpack & stay in hostels and not spend very much money. However, the exchange rates still suck, so you'll need to keep that in mind.

Good luck & have fun!

Oh yeah, and if you are thinking of heading to Hawaii, try to do it soon. The Humpbacks are around the islands from about late december to March. They should be giving birth right about now (literally). They will nurse them for a while, then the males will start to court in February. All the demonstrative jumping, breaching, rolling etc will go on for a couple weeks.

A zodiac raft tour out into the ocean to watch this fairly close up is something you will never forget.

March they head north to feed in Alaska.

Note about some cruises in Hawaii:

If a ship does NOT go to a foreign port at any point during the cruise, then the operating company must abide by US labor laws. You will have American workers who feel underpaid as opposed to foreign workers who feel fortunate to have such a wonderful job. I'm not saying it will suck, but if you've been on a cruise, expect that this one might be different.
