is the valentine that good?
Reading up on some things Mike Valentine said about laser:
If you are close enough to somebody's reception point for their navigation system you could get a laser warning.
Many Domestic vehicles have "Smart Cruise Control" that uses a laser beem to read what cars around it are doing. This is also called Adaptive Cruise Conrol. This will also set off a laser warning.
I don't remember him saying anything about LED's.

Also, another reason for the lack of lasers -- they can't be moving when they shoot the laser. (info via www.valentine1.com) When on the move, they'll resort to radar.
BTW, V1 saved me again this morning. I always pick up a strong X band right outside of my neighborhood for some reason(no stores, buildings, etc--I have no idea what sets it off). Today, right after I picked up the X-band and muted it, it bleeped again. I looked down and saw 2 X-bands. So I slowed down(I usually speed a little bit on this main road. 50mph speed limit and I usually go 60-65.
) and sure enough, a cop was heading down the road about a half-mile away. (I can't believe X-band is still around!) V1 saves me again.

IMO, the only thing laser and radar jammers are good for is triggering false positives on other peoples' detectors, Most independent testing shows near zero effect on the range at which a police radar or laser can detect the speed of the vehicle doing the jamming. All those websites showing 'proof' of jammer effectiveness are owned/operated by guys selling jammers. As far as I know, they are mostly illegal under FCC and Homeland Security laws and regulations.
Passive detection is still the way to go , but it's getting less effective due to all this damn jamming gear. V1 all the way.

Also for some reason, the Chevy Trail Blazers tail lights set off the laser on my V1. There is a few other cars too, I just have not figured out which ones they are. It took me a while to figure out that the trail blazer was doing it.
X-band. I have been hit with it by country pigs in Utah and Idaho.
i didn't see any body mention that laser has to be manually shot by the officer. so they have to be standing out side of there car with the gun in hand to point it at you. so i'm not surprised that pigs use the regular radar and mount it in there front and rear windows.
My V1 keeps me on my toes. It hasn't let me down! It does go off on some quirky signals like the digital road signs on the highway, another wierd one was i was behind my friend who has a walmart RD and his set mine off, kinda wierd but whatever.
i look at it as even if it's going off at wierd situations at least i'm being cautious with this beeping going, i can always turn the volume down, and i know that if there is a 5-0 ahead i'll know he's there way before he can see me
