So if you were popular enough you wouldn't charge that much? The more popular entertainers will allow the event coordinators to sell more tickets and make more money so it is usually worth it. My university brought in Bill Cosby one year and paid him $100,000 and he was hilarious. I think they sold over 20,000 tickets to the event for at least $20 a pop so it was worth it.

That's the great thing about a free market, people like Bill Cosby get paid more than Vanilla Ice!
