I think the argument is less to do with what's humane than energy and resource use. The whole world can't live sustainably on a meat protein based diet like we in the west do - there isn't enough land or sunlight. The fact is that meat production is highly energy, water and land inefficient based on current practice and there's little scope for improvement without radical technology like growing meat in vitro.

That said I eat meat of all kinds and would find it very hard to give it up. All things in moderation I say. Cutting down the size of portions and eating vegetarian more often than not would not only help the environment but help a lot of fat westerners' waistlines too.

if the humanity is a problem for you then eat kosher meat. Kosher slaughter is meant to be humane and to elevate the spiritual worth of the animal.

and like naishou said, all things are good in moderation.

Boy, this thread keeps reminding me of my most recent steak dinner.

It was a 16oz. Fillet Mignon. They asked me how I wanted it. I told them to bring that damn cow, a shot gun and a hunting knife to the table. I told them I would shoot that f@#*er, dig it out myself, hold my lighter under it for a few minutes and I would be ok.

Tasty steak. The Potato was good too.

We didn't climb to the top of the food chain to eat a salad.

Humans have canine teeth for a reason. To eat meat.

There is nothing more enjoyable than a bloody steak. mmmm.

I am completely fine with people choosing to be vegetarian or vegan but get extremely pissed of when they force there children into adopting an unhealthy vegan diet. Lack of certain preoteins and fats results in poor skeletal and menatl development and future health problems.

Humans actually have omnivorous teeth. Which basically means we can eat whatever the hell we want. Front teeth for tearing, rear teeth for grinding. I eat like a caveman most of the time. Fruits, nuts, veggies and bloody steaks (mmmmm steaks). I also consume whey protein powder and lots of flax seed oil.
