Seeing as they hold the world's record, I should think so. . . but I do think it's the record for standard rail, not mag-lev.

There was a blurb about that this morning on the radio. There was a CA state Assemblyperson on the train when it broke the record.

I know it's being planned for CA, but there's a bunch of Environmental hurdles involved.

Just bulid the stupid Pacheco Tunnel already!!!

wow that's fast!

high speed train are cool, fast commutes would be great... but how economical is it? I'm sure it's the same price ticket as an airplane, lol, if not more.

Electrified rolling stock isn't hampered by fuel prices (usually). Even turbo-diesel engines use less fuel.

I was in Taiwan and rode the new high-speed rail. It went as high as 300kmh. I thought it was pretty fast already. I can't really imagine going far above that because one'd start having problems up top such as nausea.
