OK, I am certainly educated and understand a decent amount about the upper end of middle range Video components. However, I am sure many people here are much more educated than I.
Here is my question:
If it were your money, which TV of these 3 would you buy?
Lemme explain my situation. I can't go any larger than the 46" because of space limitations. I do not need a flat panel plasma because I have a box over the fireplace to put the TV in.
I don't watch a ton of TV but certainly some movies and I play XBOX on it. total about 10 hrs/week the TV will be on.
And if anyone knows of a better suggestion or deal please let me know. It must be comparable to these 3. Please don't suggest a 60" plasma for $9K. Sorry, I am not in that big-balla market like some.

and
3. Samsung HLN437W 43" 16:9 HD Ready DLP Television

My current XBR Wega has been more than enough to keep me happy and not feel any urge to purchase a new "flatter" TV.
I know someone that just purchased the 60" Wega LCD XBR and I have been very impressed with it's quality. The only thing that I could say in support of this purchase is that if you opt for the Wega LCD go for the closest XBR to the size you want I have long been sold on the quality Sony puts into their XBR line and the new LCD's have only proven that further for me.

30' sony wega widscreen hdtv, love it, amazing for xbox with the hdtv adapter and the resolution cranked up, got a sony surround too, every tv must have surround, but you probably know this seeing as ur gettin a sick tv. which ever you choose, you can't go wrong.
That's mine. The Sony 50". If you really can't fit it then get the 42". But for the price difference, if you do your homework, it's the better value. I have seen many other HDTV's but this one was the winner for me. For games and DVD's it's great.
As I sell these TV's for a living, I feel I can help you with your decision. True, the Sony LCD has been wildly popular, and for good reason. It is cheaper than the DLP, and has the Sony name backing it up. In addition, it has some really cool features (aforementioned Memory Stick Slot, and adjustable twin-view PIP). If you're looking for all-out picture quality, go for the DLP. Speaking strictly from a technical standpoint, it has a better picture. DLP chips have a better black level and overall contrast ratio. It is these two things that really affect how lifelike and 3D a picture looks. I also personally feel the colors are more vivid on DLP sets, as they use a "reflective" process to create images. In contrast, LCD uses a "transmissive" process which decreases overall light output. I have recommended both TV's to my customers, as there is no clear "winner" in this debate. Both sets share many of the same benefits, though the aesthetics of the 46" Samsung really appeal to me. I like the pencil-thin border around the edges.
The issue really boils down to the video scaling within each TV. Sony's video processing is typically among the best in the industry. The LCD's are no exception. However, Samsung has employed the use of Faroudja's DCDi progressive scan circuitry. If you're not familiar with Faroudja, they are arguably the best video company in existence. Using their technology in a TV should be a significant consideration.
If it was me buying the TV, I'd opt for the 46" Samsung.

I have a sony XBR950 in a 60 and 70 and love it. The current XBR's are very nice. Only issue that I would have in your setup is if you use the fire or not. If so then DLP might not be the way to go. Look them up on www.avsforum.com
The funny thing is you hear alot of comparisons between the DLP vs LCD and the differences are small yet the price is still a factor. And most true A/V-philes will tell you they have different attributes that almost makes comparing them as equal as is to compare an S2000 to an EVO. You have to make the choice your own eyes tell you to make. You can't go wrong with either. If it was equal in prices...id say go with the DLP cause the picture quality is a tad bit better. However when you bring size and $$$ into the mix, then its not that big of a difference. Bottom line: the price is more for a DLP and it may not be enough to justify the factors that matter more to you.
