Default Virus going around

I have been hammered by this virus over the last 2 days. I don't run a virus checker, but my firewall software tagged it. Because of this virus, my ISP has shut the email servers down to to clean it up (err...) A tidbit from my ISP ...

There is a widespread virus being distributed on the Internet through email clients of unsuspecting users. The virus will scan through the user's address book and send emails every 10 to 30 minutes. The virus infected email will have a random subject and will have common contents in the email. The content may begin with 'Hi! how are you?' and end with 'See you later. Thanks'. We advise you not to click on the attachment.

Anyone have this or get this and what the heck is the name of it..

When will people learn and stop using MS Outlook. Having to install all this virus scanning, filtering technology to continue to support such a swiss cheese email client just kills me.

Sorry, had to vent. We have been fighting this thing for the last couple of days too.

The virus is called Sircam and it does not rely on MS Outlook. It uses its own SMTP engine to send email. It will randomly send a document from your "My Documents" folder to a bunch of people in your address book, and it also has a random habit of either deleting your entire hard drive or filling up all unused space with junk. The virus usually comes as a file with a double extension such as .doc.exe or .jpg.exe. I got one with .doc.pif. Just don't run random unsolicited executables and you won't get a virus. It's pretty easy really.
