Default Vitamin overdose?

I'd like to ask the medical experts if there's such thing as taking too much vitamins. I'm not talking about like taking many vitamin pills at once, as in overdose. I'm talking about taking 2-3 different vitamin pills everyday, such as 1 multi-vitamin, 2 concentrated Calcium, 1 super concentrated A & D vitamins, etc.

What is the worst case (or normal case) that the body gets too much supply of vitamins? I would like to hear from the medical experts please. Thanks!

Yes, too much can hurt you. Excessive calcium can can calcium deposits, too much iron can cause your nails and eyes to turn yellow, vitamin A & C become poisonous at high levels, etc. If you are eating a decently balanced diet there is no reason for a multivitamin, purely marketing hype. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist, give them as many details of your lifestyle as possible and they should be able to make a fairly accurate recomendation as to what (if anything) you should be taking.

By super-concentrated, I meant substantial amounts of I.U. in A, D, and E vitamins that you cannot get from any diet alone. Specifically, Ocuvite for eye health.

Poisonous? How so? And at what levels are considered high?

If I'm asking too much, then nevermind! I think I may just do a research myself.

doesn't your body just filter out whatever it doesn't need?? i take multivitamins daily and my pee is super yellow the next 2 times i visit the toilet after taking them. i always just assumed that my body was just excreting the excess vitamins/minerals through my urine.

This is one of the reasons why I posted to ask the MEDICAL EXPERTS. Why am I asking on here instead of asking my own doctor or doing my own research? Because we discuss about everything on here, and I'd like to see.

Vitamin E in excess of the recomended daily dosage is ok, it is very good for your skin. Other vitamins in excess are filtered out by your liver and secreted in your urine, but so is alcohol if you catch my drift. If you are interested in taking Ocuvite, you could just take plain lutein capsules since thats the one ingredient that supposedly preserves your eyesight.
