Default Volunteered for Iraq, Fort Bragg, NC in July

So after plenty of thought I have found a Civil Affairs unit out of Fort Bragg, NC that begins train-up in July. I will be solidifying everything this weekend at drill but it is almost a 100% sure bet that I will be going. A Soldier in my unit found out and called up an O-4 in the CA Unit at Bragg and said he had a Soldier that wanted to go, they said sure thing and to call this weekend when I come down to drill. Any advice would be great, big or small pointers... I am not sure but I am being told that uniformity is key however I don't understand how my friend with the 173rd got to have his own tac-vest/configured how he wanted it. He said he bought it off blackhawk.com and I also see many combat arms with there own configurations for mags and gear. Anyways... whatever help would great. I plan to buy an EVO IX or E46 M3 and pay in cash when I come home

Don't you think that is kinda harsh to say even though it's reality? Please tell me that you've already been over there because if you haven't you really need to squash that sh!t! I'm pretty sure he knows what he's getting into and doesn't need any help from the peanut gallery about what could happen. Thanks for the real ego boost. You've been a great help!

173rd being an ibct, probably doesnt care about a set standard for looking proper and dress-right-dress and depending on the mos and exact unit of your friend, they may allow you to configure your vest how your feel fit and comfortable. my unit, 4 ibct 10 mtn, was trying to do the same thing, but as we all know, in the army things change and we were able to configure our vests how we thought felt best. its you that gets in and out of the vehicle or walks the streets. i know i did my set-u[ for myself. as for vest/rack companies, check out rangerjoes.com, blackhawk, or tacticaltailor.com; you can alos just randomly google tactical vests, thats how i usually find my gear. good luck in your search, and hope its not hot whenever you get there, because its hot as balls over there right now.
