Far more important factors in raising your child than whether or not they wash after they pee (e.g. Britney)
It all adds up in the end.

I agree whole-heartidly - and thats exactly my point. If a child can't be raised/taught to understand the basic practice of washing your hands after wiping their ass - who knows what other "little" or "unimportant" things they didn't grasp.
It all adds up in the end.

Do all people that wash their hands say "please and thank-you"?

I do. In addition to that and washing my hands, I hold doors open for people (and I am a NYer too boot so I go against the grain where I live.)

I am not a germaphobe by any stretch of the imagination and have fairly good hygene habits but have had one reall bad experience I think was linked to a all you can eat Chinese Buffet.
I was at this buffet and you know how it goes, there is a spoon or tongs at every food item. These are touched by everyone, and you touch five or six of these things and then go back to your table to eat finger food like chicken wings. So two years ago I go to this buffet during flu season and about two days later I came down with the worst flu ever. It was about the only place I had been in a few days as I had been hanging around the house and was the most logical place I could think of to pick up germs. You see these nasty looking people cough into their hands and then grab the spoon to shovel some fried rice onto their plate.
I had a super high fever for about a week, body aches, chills. It was brutal.
Now when I go to the buffet I grab a paper napkin and handle all of the buffet food shoveling devices with the napkin. People look at me like I am a freak, but I am not going through that experience again. Just grabbing one of those buffet utensils and feeling how greasy some are just gives me the willies.
