Default Water conservation?

There is so much focus on conserving water these days but where is the water going? The media makes it sound like we are running out of water but where can it go? If anything, global warming would melt icebergs and give us additional water.

Am I missing something?

the amount of water we have as a planet at any given moment is directly related to exchange rate of hydrogen and oxygen.

Evaporation, condensation and precipitation all regulate the "amount" of water we have on the planet, we have nothing to do with it.

If its not pumped, we rely on weather to drop it around the globe. Also, it has to be processed.

even pumped water comes from aquifers which are fed by precipitation which equates to run-off and seepage.

I dont get the whole water thing either. I flush the toilet multiple times daily and take long showers and my monthly water charges are approx $6.50. Unfortunately after the sewer, trash, tax, and all that other crap, the bill ends up being $50

LOL, use charges with both electricity and water decrease with the amount used.

The media makes it sound like after watter is consumed, there will be none left - similar to oil. If I conserve water and wash my car once a month instead of 3 times, where does the extra water go that I did not use? Al Gore can suck me dry BTW.

i hate going to hotels that have the signs "help us save water. reuse your towels." screw you!!! water is still the cheapest resource utility we have by far. i worked at the water authority...geez 8 years ago now....at the time they charged about $3 for every 1000 gallons....0.3 cents per gallon....and we all go out and buy water bottles for $1.50

The talk isn't about running out of water.. it's about an increasing demand and decreasing supply of accessible water that is economical to extract and/or process. We will never run out of water... just look at the ocean. But desalinization of salt water to make drinking water is not yet economical.

Cool

"areas" may be affected by drought conditions but we will never run out of water unless we loose the ozone layer completely and we will all be dead by gamma radiation before all the water is gone.

every molecule of water that is evaporated is condensed and precipitated back somewhere. Water is constantly evaporated from the oceans and then dropped somewhere else just like rivers of fresh water run into the oceans etc etc etc

if ever some catalysmic atmospheric event occurs that prevents hydrogen and oxygen from ever combining again we will be long gone before we run out of the existing water on the planet....unless of course the cataclysm reverses the polarity of atoms in general and then we would all explode instantly so...there really is not much to worry about either way.....

Kind of like the concept of the earth reversing its rotation or stopping in general...it will equal instant and comple devestation so.....

Same with the moon's eventual collision with earth...bye bye...this is actually going to happen someday

have a nice day

some of you must have paid attention somewhere in science class JK
