We ain't got spats
The June issue of Automobile magazine gives a full page DRAWING of the front left wheel of an MR2 Spyder, showing a 8" x 2" flap (just like we have at the front of the wheel arches), plus the following writeup:
FRONT TIRE SPATS
The new MR2 Spyder comes with tire spats.
Spats move air away from turbulent wheelwells and reroute it under the Spyder.
This sucks the Spyder to the ground.
Being sucked to the ground boosts control at high speed.
Of course, there are plenty of things about the new MR2 Spyder that don't suck. Find out more at.....

Wow. Thanks Toyota for that earth-shattering info. I'm turning in my S2K for one of those high-tech MR2 jobs. We've only got flaps, but they've got spats!
