The way I see it is...while it seems like a great idea up front, overall you're not getting anything out of it. Yah, I might save $100 by not paying right now. But the ticket is still going on my record.

What happens when I get 3 tickets in 4 weeks? I gotta make it worth it, right? haha. Oh wait, now my license is suspended. I might have saved $350 in speeding tickets, but now I can't drive anywhere.

On the flip side...

If I get one ticket per year, that means I'm probably a relatively responsible driver. Perhaps I was going 10 over the speed limit and they give me a $70 ticket. Instead of just paying $70 and having a ticket on my record, I've paid $180 and have a ticket on my record.

And a contract would make it worse. If I'm in scenario A and my license is suspended, why do I want to continue paying you?

Granted, people in scenario A probably shouldn't be driving anyway, but you get the point.

I don't know. Just my thoughts on it.

Well in that case IMO you would be doing no one a favor... I'm sure the LEO's would not feel as though the were making anything off of the contract. What would give them the incentive to not stop you for other minor offenses like changing lanes without signaling....

disagree. i've put ... almost 40k miles on my car in around 20 months of ownership. i was doing a lot of highway miles for those.

now. how many tickets have i gotten? 0. so how much revenue have they gotten from me? 0. if i pay them $300/yr my driving will remain just about the same except i won't bother braking when i see the cops in the median, and they'll make some very easy $.

Yes but think about what you would be getting...

1) ability to do up to 100 mph without getting stopped
2) would not go on your license or insurance
3) would not be harrassed by the leo's except for wreckless driving (IMO speeding is not wreckless)
4) only the people that have the confidence to drive that fast safely would be willing to participate because of the cost, yes it is kinda steep
5) it would kinda weed out the young F&F drivers they would go to jail we would not
6) I'm trying to pull alot of the benfits outta my ass but I'm loosing steam
7)

How often do you drive close to 100mph?

^ If everyone were like you, then we'd all kill ourselves on the roads.

Btw, wreckless driving = good, reckless = bad. Nobody will pay $10K a year for that ridiculous notion, save for some very rich people who like driving a lot, like Jay Leno.

That would require the LEOs to pull everyone over for going 100 mph...which would defeat the purpose.

There are still going to be people that go 90 on the freeway...as there are right now. How are they going to differentiate between you and them?

Plus, this still does nothing about the people who love to merge on the free way at 45 mph, get scared, slow down more and eventually end up on the shoulder freaking out and calling AAA or Onstar for assistance.

No, there would need to be a separate "100 mph" lane. Kinda like a car pool lane or something.
