Great post! Thanks for the explanation. I would rather give a local store my business, but buying an identical product online will save me roughly 50% so it's a no brainer.

I have seen some killer rings done in Ti and other metals with tension settings of single and multiple stones. there are some name brand designers that offer their stock at many jewelers.

You have many options if looking for a ring for you ( I was assuming this thread was about a ring for you , right??). Find a ring you like online and then find a supplier that is local.

Kick ass designs here:

These are online stores but it shows some of the cooler designs I was talking about

PrimoGen is right on about the titanuim! I love the metal, and tension set diamonds rock the coolness factor of nothing but 700 and some odd pounds of pressure per sq inch (psi) holding them in place!! lol Only catch to watch out for is that like all titanium rings these can never be sized...also if the diamond ever does pop out you'll need a replacement ring all together. Most people can't work tension set rings, and titanium is a great metal to get that strength that is necessary...but like I said before, just make sure you have a good return policy. In this case it applies to your local jeweler as well when it comes to tension set...make sure they'll still be able to take care of you if you ever expand, contract, or lose the diamond.

btw, primogen...those designs are killer! I always like looking at new things...do you have any of those designs yourself? I'm curious to know if you do or know anyone who does....and how the reliability is on them for day to day wear! let me know please! hahaha okay back to the original topic at hand!!!

na, I went with a platinum band with 7 diamonds in a channel set. My wife really liked the white gold ring we orginally picked out (channel set princess and baguette stones alternating), but, when the plating went south on me after just a year of use, we decided to go platinum but could not find the exact same setting. So instead of the cost of a custom jobby we settled on what I have now.

I found alot of these ring styles while searching for the Ti jewelry. I am now considering a decent sized tension mount for the other hand as a regular "man" ring. Ti necklaces are the shiz too, I am looking into several styles that are even fired for that purple blue effect = hawt IMHO
