Better yet, start eating until you are officially OBESE then get some fat surgery! Way easier than exercising and eating right!!!! Nigga please!
- Take in way Less sugar and fried foods (fast food)
- Eliminate soda from your diet
- Do at least 20-30 minutes of cardio 4-5 times a week.
- Eat fruit for breakfast (apples, bananas, etc)
- Eat an early, but light lunch at 11AM
- Eat a light snack around 3PM, (celery with peanut butter, a protein bar, canned tuna and crackers, canned chicken and crackers)
- Eat a normal and healthy dinner.
There is no magic way to lose weight, its simply exercising and controlling your diet. Personally, I think diet pills are a waste of money, but some appetite suppressants can help you adjust to a lighter diet.

Eat a high protein diet, low carbs. In mine I did not count fresh fruit at carbs because really, who gets fat eating fruit.
Once you start dropping the weight and especially size (your clothes will become loose), start weight lifting. You don't have to go bodybuilder, but start lower weights and build your way up. Higher reps rather than huge weight should be your goal. It will take about 6 weeks (depending on your age and baseline metabolism) to see a transformation. Then you'll be a lean mean s2000 drivin machine.
When I was about 25 one way I lost the most weight ever was lowering my portions of food by about 25/50 % per meal and rollerblading 3 miles/day 5 days a week. That's all I did. I didn't eat better or drink less or anything, but I went to 165-135. I was so skinny it was crazy.
Neither one was without supplements.
I am going to join a gym today and get back to hardbody. Living by the beach makes it quite necessary.

I'm 6'0" and 200lbs., I have a small gut but well defined arms and shoulders (I work manual labor, lifting stuff doesn't work the abs quite as much as it should).
I've been drinking a 64oz. bottle of Juicy Juice per day (to make sure I have plenty of liquids and to stave away soda cravings) plus it tastes good, and it's not that expensive ($2.00 for 64oz. compared to $1.29 per 24oz. of Pepsi) Also been eating a cup of fruit and a yogurt per day.
The bad part is that I have to eat whatever is available to me (3/4 time college and full time worker, I have no money) so while I do a few things good, when I am hungry and someone brings home a Hot & Ready, I don't ask questions.
I think my ideal weight would be around 180-185lbs. (with a good bit of muscle), if I ran 30 minutes per day would I attain this goal with relative ease?

30 minutes of cardio is too much. 20 minutes is the optimal amount. Anything beyond that brings diminishing returns.
BTW, running 30 minutes is REALLY REALLY HARD if you haven't been running regularly. That's like 3+ miles at a decent pace...So you're basically running a 5K race every day.
That's not realistic for most people, and definitely not realistic for out-of-shape / overweight people. You will quickly demoralize yourself trying to do that.
On a side note: Is there a way to measure metabolism? I know mine is high, but I wonder exactly how high?

you know what really burns calories? Cycling.
if you do 30-40miles and throw in some hills, you'll lose 40lbs in 6months.

First there's the buy in for equipiment, I'd say at least 1000 for some reasonable equipment IMO. Then there's the time factor, 30-40 miles even for an experienced rider is at least 2 hours. The calories burned is less than running or other sports unless you are doing some serious climbing. Serious climbing is hard to do unless you are accustomed to riding.
If you are not used to riding, your perineum hurts like a mo fo after riding. Pain in the mangina is not fun.

You don't have to ride 2 hours if you don't want to. Just doing 30-60 minutes at a high speed is a great workout.

I burn way more calories on the bike than a treadmill. And you can actually use it to get places. It's not hard on your knees like running either.

I just know it's not as easy as jumping on a treadmill or going for a run or swim because you have to get the proper equipment for it. Riding without a good shammy pair of shorts and a nice tight riding shirt and clipins is not fun, as well as having a heavy bike with crappy components that fail. Having a flat is a pain too. Of course that's just my opinion.
I first need to understand what your goals are? Lose weight, reguardless of muscle or fat?
If you don't really care and it's all about weight, then you'll need to really look at your diet. Caloric intake is a big factor, but if you break it down futher, you'll need to look at what types of calories you're consuming. IE.. High in Sugars..... You need to find out what your Body mass index is. For example, for me sustain my current size/mass I need to consume 2800 cal. for homeostasis. To lose weight I'll need to begin cutting back slightly and expend more calories thru various methods of exercise.
The safest amount of weight lose should be no more that 2lbs per week. Anymore than that can be dangerous. Although there are many here who have probably done so. But I believe that you should lose the weight at a normal pace. Otherwise you may seem some physical side effects like stretch marks.
FYI, my background is in healthcare, I was a licensed ACSM personal Trainer. I did for a very short period work at 24 Hour fitness as a trainer.
Cardiovascular and muscular workouts are the best to lose and maintain weight lost. As an example, I'm not sure of the exact calories here but 1 lbs of fat versus 1 lbs or muscle. The 1 lbs of muscle will burn 100 calories, while the 1 lbs of fat will burn 5 calories. So by having more muscle you'll be burning calories just sitting down. But on the reverse side you'll also require more Calories to maintain and even more so to build.
This is why when you begin to lift weight your body will also begin to speed up it's kreb cycle. That's the reason you get hungry all the time.
Another great way to lose weight is to drink lots of water. I can go into more detail but I think you have a pretty good Idea as to why this is recommended.
