At age 10 or 12 I would maybe get $40 for x-mas, but we really appreciated the stuff. for b-days, we would get $25 worth. Not much else throughout the year.

It is the parents fault (me included) for this.......but my kids already have laptops, psp's, ps2 (no ps3 yet), game boys, Yamaha Raptor 80, etc.....

Just curious what you guys got as kids and what your kids (or relatives kids) are getting. My kids are not as spoiled as some of the kids. I am trying to cut it back without having my kids look like losers.

I was much happier giving my payroll lady $ to buy her 15 year old son a PSP than to spend any $ on my own kids who have way too much shit as it is.

 

My parents never got me anything,we were poor.

I've noticed from going to homes of people i know that they get the damn kids everything they want. I'm only getting my kids what they need.that is if/when i have kids.

Similar - We have these things with a rubber front tire and plastic rear tires so they can zip them around like that. Pretty neat. we leave them outside for all the kids at the bus stop to ride.

 

I think the most expensive thing I got as a kid was a radio controlled bigfoot truck. Those suckers were about $150 back in 1986 or so and I couldn't believe it when I got it (along with a bunch of other stuff). That was the year Dad may a ton of money in real estate, I think, so we had a pretty wild Christmas.

Otherwise, we normally kept it pretty simple. I got a "real" guitar one year. That's about as big as it got for me.
