also got Atari 2600 and then 5200. Any game by Activision was the sh!t. You get a high enough score, you could take a picture of the screen and they'd send you a patch for that game. Frostbite and LaserBlast were the best

i got a red jeep wrangler powerwheel. pow-pow-POWERWHEELS! i had lots of barbies and a super nintendo... and i loved little mermaid stuff. we weren't very well off when i was growing up so i never got spoiled by any means. and even when we had a little more money my parents were still too frugal to ever get very snazzy with their money. i envy kids who just have cars, ipods, lap tops, game consoles, tv's, the entirety of their college tuition, etc. handed to them cause i always had to work for that stuff.

Yes to the Big Wheel & Green Machine.

more: Tin Can Alley, Evil Knievil, G.I. Joe (old school), Cap Guns (anyone remember those - the paper roll of caps that you put in the revolver) , Lite-Brite, Etcha Sketch, Hot Wheels, Matchbox cars, Micronauts, Shogun Warriors, Super Stretch Armstrong, roller skates, plastic army men (I had tons along with this huge plastic Fortress Navarone - didn't look like the one from the movie at all...), Mr. Potato Head, Playdough, Lionel Trains, Battle Star Galactica toys, Ba Ba Blacksheep toys, Star Wars toys (of course), Atari...

got the odd toy here and there...my parent's were poor.

and now - with the grace of god - my wife and i don't have to worry about money, so we get the kids whatever they want.

but they're young, so a $10 bead set for my daughter is heaven to her, or a $20 thomas train for my son....

i dunno....i have 2 thoughts on the subject - i wouldn't want to deny my kids for the sake of making a point, and on the other hand, i've seen enough spoiled, out-of-control kids that should've been denied...i guess it's finding that balance.

I still remember getting the Millenium Falcon one year, and the G.I. Joe Battle Hovercraft later on. . .

. . . my parents are staunchly middle-class/upper middle-class; they never got me impulse items, but they spoiled me rotten on Christmas.
