I recently (coming up on 2 months) started taking some Kung Fu. A big part of what my sensei teaches involves body and mind. We start out every practice with a decent 3-5min meditation. I have had a rough couple years emotionally. Long story short, problems at work, problems with Mom (divorced my Dad after 35 years under a bunch of BS reasons), I work with my Dad so alot of that bagage is still around, lost a 25 year old friend to brain cancer, lost a 18 year old foster sister to a terminal illness. /Phew

I have started meditating daily now - before I go to bed and sometimes when I wake up coupled with some basic stretching. Seriously it has changed me. I'm much more focused throughout the day, I don't dwell on crap. My back is not 'tight' anymore, I don't 'fidget' all day - playing with change in my pocket, bouncing feet while I'm sitting etc. If you would have told me it would change me this much I would have discarded it right away. It really is amazing how much even just in the 60 days I have been doing it, how much it has helped. Google meditation - and do what ever one apeals to you - I promise you wont be disapointed.

The gym is the best way for me to clear my head and "reboot" because I focus so much on what I'm doing that all the other stuff just fades away.

Uber, sorry to hear about your bad run I've been meaning to find/make time for yoga for a long time now. When I was at uni and working full time I'd do my best to make it to the gym after work before I went home to study because it was the only way I could do both and focus clearly by cleaning the slate so to speak. I'm kind of going OT here but a lot of the time I wouldn't have time to go the gym on the way home from work and the result would be ~4 hours of useless study/procrastination rather than the hour at the gym followed by 3 good hours of study

^^ Yoga is a great stress reliever. My ex-gf is pretty good at it and said it was a great calming exercise... Oh God, now I need a drink...

My personal preferance is to go running...

It's you and the path you choose and nothing more, go to the point where you feel as if you can't make it back running the whole way and run a little further. This way once your head is clear, you can walk a little while your body cools down, and think things over and put them into perspective.

It not only relieves emotional stress, but you will be suprised at how much physical stress you are probably holding in, and how much more relaxed you feel afterward.

Just my .02

All these recommendation yoga, kung fu, screwing, running, taking a long dump ....do one thing, release a massive amount of endorphins in the brain giving you that "high".

Alters your state of mind.

A nice drive always makes me feel better. It doesn't even have to be a hardcore, balls to the wall drive. Just driving by yourself, watching the road, or looking at the scenery tends to calm everything down a bit. I think driving cures everything.
