First clip - there were no dynamics to speak of. Nice of her to phone it in. I'll cut some slack, as she may have been at home. However, if Christina A. did a take like that, I'd kick her out of my studio immediately.
Second clip - turned it off after 5 seconds. The guitar was out of tune.
I'm not a fan of Christina Aguilera, but what I will give her props for, is that every musician I know that's worked with her says she never has an off day. Moreover, she'll have usable tracks within 2 takes. At $500/hr.+, you think about the production costs, and you see why she's well-respected in many circles.
What separates my semi-pro ass from a guy in L.A.? What takes the L.A. guy 1-2 takes (one rehearsal, one actual recording), may take me 4 (or more).
What I'm saying here is that it's the little things. . .
Tell your friend to keep working hard- her tone is very nice, but she needs a vocal coach if she doesn't have one already.
