What do u guys think S2ki
This is the buddy of Neil and I am a police officer, so let's discuss this...
99% of children are not diciplined by their parents. 99% of people such as yourself have to dial 911 at least once in your life. If we are so corrupt then why would you call us? I understand the guy was hard on the kid and he should not have to went hands on, but you also have you put your self in our shoes. In Texas a 64 yr old woman shot an officer while he was walking up to the vehicle. Somewhere else in the U.S. a nine year old killed both of his parents. That kid was just as capable of pulling something as you, me, or anybody else. That is the attitude we have when we speak to people.
Now maybe you have had a bad run in with cops but you also have to understand you don't know what we went through before we ran into you. Probably something you would have run from; so not most cops are corrupt. Most of them have different way's of dealing with things.
For instance:
When a cop lets you go or does not pull you over you think "oh my gosh that is awesome" But when you see it happen to somebody else you get mad and say we are corrupt. You speed, you swear in public... I am sure you have ran a stop sign or a red light... That is corrupt.. YOU STILL BROKE THE LAW!
Are 99% of cops corrupt? Or are they just human?

Kid was a smartass , man with gun gave him a order. Kid did not follow orders, kid got roughed up. End of story. The only reason this has any press is because the kid is white. Any other race other than black ( then we would have seen Jackson and his boys all over the TV) and this would have been a non issue. The kids mommy probably takes his ipod and sends him to his room the few times she has punished him. Some parts of the world and jr would have been hurt bad. Cop was goaded by jr calling him dude after he was told not to.
Mommy should have got off her fat a$$ and taken him to a skate park so he wouldn't annoy others. Do we know if skating was allowed in that area? Kid sure got respectful when mommy was going to be called didn't he?

We are all human and it comes with the package. The cop, the fry cook, the artist, the bartender, all human.
This illustrates the need for a higher standard, a higher level of monitoring, a higher level of review, a higher level of transparency for those in LE.
LE carry the guns and are forced into making critical decisions surrounding civil rights and life or death. LE encounters the bad sides of other humans on a regular basis as the nature of their job. On a bad day, LE pays witness to some of the saddest and most treacherous things that humans can do to one another. On a good day they deal with people that are clearly not pleased to see them, dislike them, etc. They are forced to deal with the reality that the next traffic stop could result in someone attempting to kill them.
We all face stress, but in certain jobs, the stress is extreme and the impact is critical and thus safeguards are indispensable.
Fry Cook
- lower level of job stress
- less impact should he allow it to get to him
LE
- HIGH level of job stress
- severe impact should he allow it to get to him
Indeed, I have exceeded posted speed, I have done the rolling stop. But, I have not taken an oath to uphold the law. I have provided implied consent by virtue of my DL to be bound by traffic law, but I have not taken an oath to enforce it.
LE should be held to a higher standard, as they are the enforcers. When we allow exception to this, we being the downward spiral. Human judgment comes into play about what constitutes a 'reasonable' exception. Human's make mistakes. Especially humans under large degrees of stress.
Am I corrupt for rolling stop? If I gave you an oath that I would obey and enforce the law, then yes, I think that is a solid definition of corrupt.

To clarify my position, there very few good cops. VERY FEW good cops. Less than 1 per hundred.
Again, by good, I mean cops that are not crooked, that don't provide 'professional courtesies', that don't ignore violations by other cops, and of course, that don't sodomize you with a broomstick.
The few good cops are exceptions to the rule.
Good cops that join 'the force' (20% of enrollees is a way generous estimate) are driven out or converted. If you encounter a good cop, it is only because he has not been in 'the force' long enough to be driven away or converted.
You are quite correct regarding my feelings about cops. I cannot stand them. They are among the sickest and most depraved forms of humanity. And they carry a gun...good match huh? Many come in as bad people, others we cultivate with the engine in place.
And nope, I have never had any professional encounters with cops other than speeding tickets, last one of those was more than 11 years ago. Never been arrested, never wanted to be a cop, but unable to make the cut, etc. etc. I don't have family members in jail, or friends (close or not) involved with cop altercations.
I have met many cops in my life, heard many of their stories, and of course read the news.
I have my eyes open and I understand human nature.

I gotta take Ruprecht side on this, you are simple beating around the bush like a girl does when shes hiding something.
Hes speaking in form of statistics and probability, never did he say that either would represent the good or the bad, he only stated that there is a probability within the whole.
3/4 is a fraction equal to 0.75 of one, now argue me wrong on that...
Prove that all cops are infact good and corruption does not exist within them to a degree. Are you showing approval of corruption and abuse, sounds like it to me.

I have agreed with you alot until here, I wouldnt say 99 outta 100 cops are currupt because that would be way too biased.
From how I see it, we only see the bad ones because the good ones are out doing all the work, like look at this example. You ever know that one dousche bag at work that never ever does any work and yet gets away with everything? On the other hand the good workers are busy busting their asses while the dousche bag sets the reputation for the rest. Its a numbers game bro, and in thiat sense I do think they need closer regulation.

There is a difference in a guy in the office that slacks off and a cop bending the law.
If a good worker in the office does not report the slacker, then it's his prerogative.
If a cop does not report illegal conduct by another cop then a) it's an illegal act in and of itself and b) it's a breech of oath.
How does a slacker in the office survive for 10 years? Everyone knows about him, perhaps jokes about him occasionally. Folks ignore it and concentrate on getting their own jobs done.
Same with the police force. Everybody knows, how are you not going to know when you work with the guy for 10 years?
So, what is different in those two scenarios? Well for one thing, the rouge cop can create much more harm than a rouge office employee. For another thing, cops take an oath to uphold the law, to enforce the law, and when you ignore someone in your own ranks breaking the oath, you yourself are breaking the oath when you fail to enforce.
Is that a fair standard? Not really. Life ain't fair. Jobs and careers carry different requirements, proffer different modes of satisfaction, and so folks align with whatever career makes sense for them. If you don't like the rules of a given profession, then you are free to select another profession.
But if you select a profession and you take an associated oath, you should be bound by the oath.
Skateboarding isn't illegal, but choking a 14 yrd is.
I have been skateboarding since I was 11 in 2000, and have had my share of run-ins with the law over it. Basically when they start to try and argue with me I put up my wrists and tell him to arrest me, or let me go, I inform him he is NOT getting my skateboard, and that I would be more than happy to call my parents and or lawyer.
I wonder, often, when a cop is treating you wrong being threatening who can you call? I was ripped out of my car, slammed against it, and held for hours in his cop car without reason..... long story, basically he was ****ing me over for no reason. Who will protect us from those we hire for protection? When a cop hurts you or something what can you do?

Still waiting on some hard statistics here....
You ain't gonna find em. I want them too.
They are not available as there is not sufficient monitoring and data collection.
That's my point.
I ventured a guess. You have your guess.
We observe data points in the news or in our own contacts.
How big is the problem? Sorry, no statistics.
That's a bad thing.
