Default What do ya think about the new M3?

Hi guys,

I'm not trying to promote any opinions or create chaos, but I was wondering what do you guys think of the new M3?

I know the S2000 is way different from an M3, but I want to pick the S2000 crowds' brains on what they think of the M3. Ugly? Good looking? Hate it? Wouldn't mind having one? Would die to have one? More or less of bang for bucks? I read once on this board someone said "IMHO, it's plane ugly."

I'm from the BMW crowd in a '95 325i and my family has a '99 528i and a '00 X5 4.4 with sports package. I love BMWs for their delightful balance between performance and luxury. However, I also appreciate the beauty of the S2000, it's sporty and nimble characteristics, awesome tranny and clutch, and rev happy 2.0L motor that puts out 240hp. Having said all this, you know I am in the middle, I'm split in between. How about some of you guys?

To provide you guys with imagie in your mind as you read this post and reply, I have attached the following pictures. One of them is of a titanium silver M3 with Breyton Vision 20" rims. Yeah, 20" is way too big and for show, but they sure look pretty cool.

If all the local bmw dealers around me were able to sell the new e46 m3s for sticker or possibly under, i would've got that instead. 45k + 15k markup + options = too much money. Other than that, its probably the best and most refined car i've driven.

In my opinion the 3 series in general just seems to be getting a bit too big. I love the M3, the power, the handling, everything about the way it drives..... but I would prefer to see it coming back down in size a little....

there was a 15k markup when i was browsing around for my next car about 4 months ago. Add that to the options i wanted, it came to over 60k + tax, fees, etc..

I wanted the M3 before I bought my S2000. But the wait was too long and the markup too high. I think the M3 is such a great car because it gives you a great looking cabin, great handling and nice power, and 4 seats ! Personally, I would get the M3 for the street/track and keep the S2000 as a track/canyon ripper!

I didn't make the wrong desicion with the S2000, but I'm sure I would've been as happy with the M3!
