Default What do you think of wireless internet cards

I'm traveling for work these days, so I'm only home at most 2 weekends a month. I cancelled my cable internet at home, but just recently thought of replacing it with a wireless card from a cell phone carrier. I'm not limited to Verizon really, but I currently have Verizon and if I get one of theirs, I can probably expense the monthly cost to my company. I think the verizon plan for unlimited usage is like 70 a month at the moment.

Anyway, have any of you used the cards much and like them? Any major complaints, etc. Or companies I should watch out for (is Verizon as good as any?)
Or maybe if you know of a good site to research them, that would be cool, too. I was thinking of buying the card used, so I don't have to get pulled into a 2 year contract, in case I get tired of it.

Thanks

I don't know about Verizon, but I have a Linksys wireless card that works really well.

I've got the verizon card in my Lenovo T60. It's decently fast with the fastest speeds i've seen at 512k/dl and 256/up. My company pays $60/month.

The card is a little bulky but other than that it's got great coverage and consistent speeds.

I think he means the ED-VO or EDGE cards that Verizon, Cingular and other cell companies are offering. Some laptop companies are starting to have them build in.

They are nice to have, but way overpriced imo. If you are always places without actual Internet access and you've canceled your home service, I think it is an idea to get one of these cards since it will be well used. Especially if you can get work to pay for it.

I have the Sprint card. I got it for free, pay $60 a month and it is unlimited usage. However I recently moved and now I am stealing someone else's wireless internet. I want to cancel the card, but it will cost me $200 to do it. The card is pretty good and I think it is very quick for a card. Just my 2 cents.

I'm personally going to pull the trigger on some form of internet.

My options are as follows:
1. Cox high speed
$95.00 if you include the REQUIRED cable...which I won't need in graduate school

2. Dial-up...
Slow, but cheap, but I need a phone, or some method for tethering my cell to my laptop.

3. Wireless card
I didn't even think about this until now, if Cingular can beat the cost of cox internet minus basic cable then I'll probably do it.

Thanks for the suggestion
