What drives you to live life?
To give some examples, traveling with some good friends to and to create meaningful memories. To enjoy the view of the ocean while relaxing with a good book. Having a good meal along with some interesting conversation. Driving a sweet car capable of great handling and acceleration. Trying to fulfill the goals that you have set out for life. Having a good laugh with friends............Enjoying a good movie. Just trying to make life as good as possible.
I think it was Aristotle who said that true happiness can only be derived from meeting our most basic physical needs, food and sex! My moral self wants to argue with this, my physical self says HELL YEA!
Religions however, contradict this. Personally, I don't buy into the concept of the afterlife so I don't concern myself with whether I'll be going to heaven or hell when I die. I DO however, believe that we have a need for a three-part harmony, our relationship with ourselves, with our community, and with our maker (btw, this is very much Old Testiment theology and common among most religions). When these three relationships are right we experience heaven on earth. When they aren't right, we experience hell on earth. My quest in life is to achieve and maintain that balance.

Many years ago, I would tell you that I lived for my wife. A number of years later, the answer to this question would have been my children. But now, I will tell you it's my three wonderful grandsons.
I also like my job and the people that I work with, not to mention my fantastic S2000. The thing that keeps me going is my willingness and ability to help other people. I also enjoy a positive attitude and that helps keep me going, as well. I have been known to stop and smell the roses.
Enjoy life,
Bob
