This may be the true rule, technically. I believe the rule is that you can't drink in the temple hall itself. I don't think it applies to the whole building. Perhaps it is a matter of interpretation from lodge to lodge.

Oh, and don't quote me on the official name of the big room where all the ritual happens.

I've been to several 'Open Nights' and can confirm that drinking certainly does take place on the premises!

However, I went along to quite a few "open nights" and I can assure you that drinking is a, if not the, primary raison d'etre for the whole evening. The drinking always started in the kitchen, (adjoining the temple room) after the ceremony for the evening was completed, but quite a few members would stroll off for a chat into the temple room itself (the kitchen was pretty small) with no qualms about taking a beer can or two with them.
OK. This explanation is pretty consistent with what I know. Especially about the kitchen.

George Washington was a mason as were many of the founding fathers of the US. The pyramid and eye on the back of the dollar bill is a masonic symbol but I'm not sure what it means.

Last i heard of the Freemasons is that they were a group of "devil worshipers" and yeah, it sounds crazy.. but a few people have told me this.. this is the thing though.. only the major ones i think degree 13 down know about the whole devil worshipping aspect.. in fact, there are a lot of degrees.. usually people are in the 30s so never find out the truth of freemasons.. that it is in fact a devil worshipping cult.

here's a symbol from those guys. see how the line between the A and L connect.. well this abbreviation in latin means means the year of light 6000 when supposedly lucifer, who was cast down from heaven.. will triumph over god and setup kingdom.

freemasons have tons of connections in all different fields.. they're very powerful people, affect some pretty strong people in government.. huge corporations and such.. they've had meetings inviting only big shot ceo's to their places and whatnot..

they also go to mention that washington was given the egyption obelisk as a symbol because he broke away and got "indipendence" the obelisk repesents a ray of light (RA), the mysteries of the sun, fire (intellect).. they claim lucifer is the "source of light" of intelligence, getting adam and eve to eat from the tree that had the fruit of knowledge.. thus making them more powerful than god..
blah blah blah, and so the story goes.

Couple of things.

In general Freemasonry their are three levels (First Second and Third). You denote your level by the position of your thumb on the other persons knuckle during the secret handshake. It is rumoured that beyound this there are another 30 levels.

The idea that Freemasonry = Devil worship was concocted by the Catholic church because they see Freemasonry asd a threat. These are the same people who locked up Galileo and Copernicus for their herectic beliefs.

Although not a Freemason myself I have no reason to believe any of the Freemasons I've met are Knights In Satan's Service (or KISS fans ).
